Hearts & Vices EP - Released 17th March 2011

Vibrant and poignant, alternative rockers Skyskratcher are nothing if not eclectic.

Re-inventing the 'power-trio', experimentation seems to be at the heart of this band driving them forward to explore new ideas and new ways of both writing and listening to music, but NEVER forgetting ‘the song’.

A dynamic rhythm section lay the foundations for a harmonic wall of guitar driven songs with colourful melodies, fusing the comprehensive range of influences from each corner of the band to create something new and interesting.

Accused on occasion of being reminiscent of the Pixies, 'quiet loud quiet loud' approach, in reality Skyskratcher take trips through delicate, whispered melodies, upbeat grooves, flat-out punk skin smashing and Mars Volta-esque guitar lunacy, a level of diversity which has seen them supporting bands as far removed from each other as Hot Club de Paris and The Dogbones. A use of live vocal effects and carefully structured arrangements does not stop this band from tearing up the stage every time they play.

The band release their debut EP, 'Hearts & Vices' on Thursday 17th March at the Bowery in London.

In the true spirit of DIY, 4 out of 5 tracks on their debut, self-funded, self-released EP have been entirely produced, mixed and mastered by lead vocalist and bass player, Jude Benjamin with the fifth being recorded and produced in Surrey University's studios by friend of the band, Ben Rhodes (whilst Jude poked his nose in).

Skyskratcher are currently embarking on a campaign of love, fire and fuzz across England’s green and pleasant land, ready to blow the roofs off of every pub toilet the UK can throw at them and taking down a few larger crowds along the way (GuilFest 2010 included)!

In a world where people like to know what they’re going to get, Skyskratcher have a few pleasant surprises at the ready.
