Tijuana based six-piece band Slares just dropped their newest visual in collaboration with Stela Tangassi lingerie for their upcoming track “Give It To Me”. Directed by Alejandro Misteró, a musician and film score artist, freelance photographer, aphoristic writer and haikú cinematographer, the video is a wonderful picturesque clip full of a soft and adorable home scenery and of course pretty girls. “The camera is an extension of our eyes and photography is an extension of our memory. Slares hails from Los Angeles, which as most of us know doesn’t mean anything as most Angelinos are extinct. Nah, just kidding, but still. A large majority of the people in L.A are not initially from there, so let’s just say that the 6 members of the band are a diversity mash.

Their debut single “That Vibe” translates these guys’ image well. A mix of funk, synth-pop, and electronic music with lyrics clearly influenced by Barry White. Well… you know what I mean! The tune does feature some tight songwriting form and explores different spectrum’s of available matching genres. There is even a small guitar hook towards the end that could make you weep if you were a Prince fan! But don’t take my word for it, listen to it while you read this.

The beat is nice and round with a cool whoomf to the downbeat. Though there is a lot going on all at once, it’s still pretty uplifting and groovy. It would be nice to scale a bit back so as to be able to focus more on the melody, the cool hooks and such. For now it’s a little too full in the arrangement for my tastes, though clearly the vibe (no pun intended) makes up for it.

With all this, I’d love to see these guys live. The music could totally lend itself to a really fun show. Up to the musicians to make it a special performance with charisma and stage play. Let’s see where they go next! - 24OurMusic
