Bio

Reformed Montreal rockers Slaves on Dope have signed a Worldwide recording deal with

THC:Music/Rocket Science Ventures, who will distribute their upcoming LP Over the Influence, in stores Worldwide Spring 2012, and a digital only EP Careless Coma, available November 1st via digital retailers.

The releases will be distributed via Rocket Science/RED in North America.

The first single from the EP has already started creating a buzz, garnering airplay on Rock stations throughout the US and Canada, including rotation on Montreal Rock mainstay CHOM-FM, and a video that premiered this week on loudwire.com. The band also recently made an appearance at the HEAVY MTL festival, where they shared the stage with the likes of KISS, Disturbed, Anthrax, Godsmack, Machine Head, In Flames, Trivium, Morbid Angel, Children of Bodom and more.

Formed in Montreal in 1993 by vocalist Jason Rockman and guitarist Kevin Jardine, Slaves on Dope released their highly successful debut album Inches from the Mainline in 2000 on Ozzy Osbourne’s Divine Recordings, making appearances on major touring outings including Ozzfest and Sno-Core. They followed up Inches with 2003’s Metafour (produced by A Perfect Circle/Failure/QOTSA guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen) released via Bieler Brothers/MCA, supporting it until 2004 when they disbanded on Rockman’s departure.

THC was founded in 2011 by Thom Hazaert, former President of Corporate Punishment Records, a 15 year industry veteran, who as an Artist Manager/A&R Rep helped launch the careers of Chimaira, Switched, Depswa, Bleed the Sky, Adema, and more. (Ironically, Hazaert was also the first industry person Slaves on Dope connected with upon moving to Los Angeles in 1999, and subsequently gave them some of their earliest introductions into the LA scene.) Also a seasoned industry marketing vet and co-founder of Total Assault Marketing, being involved with a myriad of hugely successful 2000’s major label releases from artists including Limp Bizkit, Korn, Snot, (Hed)pe, Nine Inch Nails, Static-X, Cold, Guns N’ Roses, Pitchshifter, Staind, and more.

Rocket Science is a full service Artist services company and Record Label offering marketing, promotion and distribution services to prominent former major label artists looking for a modern, Artist-friendly outlet. Formed by former MCA/Universal exec Kevin Day, Rocket Science has brought successful releases to the marketplace from artists as diverse as Nonpoint, Filter, Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair, George Lynch, John 5, Manraze (featuring Def Leppard’s Phil Collen and Sex Pistols’ Paul Cook), Ace Frehley, Lo-Pro, and Yanni.
