Biography

SLEDD BIO: Hailing from San Diego’s East County, the boys of Sledd are seasoned veterans in the rock music world. Originally formed in 1995 by brothers Dino and Peter DeLuke, the act quickly enjoyed some success touring regionally with acts like “The Vince Neil Band”, “Kings X” , "Quiet Riot" and “Gary Hoey” just to name a few.

The band has had some lineup changes, but has always been a band with a different feel. The original lineup included Dino DeLuke on drums, Peter DeLuke on Keyboards, Cary Rothman on Vocals, Mike Femenela Lead Guitar and Doug Johnston on Bass. The band stayed in tact through 2005, recording two albums worth of tracks working with producers Mark Kendall, Al Pitrelli, and Jim Feraci. The first of the two was called Dopamine, which was an eleven song recording launch for the five-piece group. The band on their own sold 5,000 copies of the CD. The remaining tracks have yet to be released.

Sledd has played all over the Southern California circuit, and developed a fan base that has remained loyal to this day. In 2005, Sledd parted ways with original guitar player Mike Femenela and original bassist Doug Johnston. It signaled a changing of the guard, and opened up the opportunity to work with a new guitar section and subsequently a new sound arose. As they loosened up their writing skills, they also loosened up their tuning pegs and sheered in a new deep rough sound. They worked with Lead Guitarist Eric Meyer (Brickbath) for about a year, writing Jump, Remember, Shine Down, Say you will and Back When. Bass player Steve Mumma, who replaced Johnston around the same time, also plays bass on those songs. The grooves were deep and heavy and became what you hear now as the new Sledd sound. In May 2007, the band and Eric Meyer decided to part ways so Eric could work on his own project. The new sound was set though, and fans were digging the new sound. To fill the void left by Eric, the band brought in guitarist Keith Greenwood. Keith brings a fresh attitude and tasty riffs to the band and now the next step lies ahead, gigging, recording and touring.

The band is currently recording tracks for their forthcoming album at Strate Sound Recording Studios in Santee, CA with renowned Producer Alan Sanderson (Rolling Stones, System of a Down, Weezer) which will be released sometime in the fall. Writing on the wall

Written By: Rothman

Sophisticated Pretty Lady
So fine just walking alone
Everybody was looking and they stared…

I was so frustrated
He was walking in circles
Just to be in the presence of this dream…

Oh can’t you see
That she’s walking all alone
Oh can’t you see
It’s the writing on the wall…

Complications and sensation
Her mind was all the way gone
Everybody was worried for her strength

Oh with so much dictation
He was walking in circles
Just to be in the presence of this dream…

(Oh C’mon now!)

Oh can’t you see
That she’s walking all alone
Oh can’t you see
It’s the writing on the wall…

That she’s walking all alone
It’s the writing on the wall
That she’s walking all alone…

Solo

Oh can’t you see
That’s she’s walking all alone
Oh can’t you see
It’s the writing on the wall

Repeat Chorus

That’s she’s walking all alone
It’s the writing on the wall
That’s she’s walking all alone…

Sight Unseen (Farso)

Written By: Rothman

Tormented civils
Marching for their spot
We’re frightened people
Who’ll never know just what we came here for, came here for…

Our desire
Yeah!

Cultures of evil
Surround my clouded heart
We’re frightened
Who’ll never know just what we came here for, Fighting for…

Our desire

Farso
Where it comes from
Farso
Whre it comes from
Farso
Where it comes from…

Tormented civils
Don’t know what we’re fighting for…

Farso…
Farso…
Farso…

Our desire
We’re fighting for desire
Our desire
We’re fighting for desire...

Quiet Time

Written By: Rothman

What is this thing that stands before me
If life is not insane it gets me bored
The drum beats the same in your quiet time
If I’m not afraid I get so bored…

What is this face staring at me
Inside a darkened frame are broken bones
If I’m not insane it’s my quiet time
If I’m not insane I get so bored…

Dark and Rain
(I know this must be your quiet time)
Anger and Pain, all that day

Dark and Rain
(I know this must be your quiet time)
Anger and Pain, all that day

What did you say don’t ignore me
I’m inside a darkened frame of broken bones
If I’m not insane it’s my quiet time
If I’m not to blame I get so bored

Dark and Rain
(I know this must be your quiet time)
Anger and Pain, all that day

Stay on Course

Written By: Rothman, Meyer, P DeLuke

I was by myself tonight
I was only driving…
I had some thoughts as I was grabbing the wheel
Stay on Stay on…

I was by myself tonight
I was soul surviving
My feet are clinching as I’m grabbing my nails
Stay on Stay on...

Stay on course
My mind is going frail tonight
Save my soul
In spite of what I feel tonight…

I was by myself tonight
I was only driving
I had some thoughts as I was grabbing the wheel
Stay on Stay on…

I was by myself tonight
I was soul surviving
My feet are clinching as I’m grabbing my nails
Stay on Stay on…

Repeat Chorus

Save my soul…

Solo

Feel the prowess in my soul tonight
Feel the prowess in my soul tonight
And I feel the prowess in my soul tonight
Feel the prowess in my soul…

I was by myself tonight
I was only driving
I had some thoughts as I was grabbing the wheel
Stay on Stay on…

I was by myself tonight
I was soul surviving
My feet are clinching as I’m grabbing my nails
Stay on Stay on…

Repeat Chorus

Jump

Written By: C Rothman, E Meyer, P DeLuke

You say it’s over…not just for today
It’s really over…
It’s all my problems…all my anger
No power…

All the excuses…my lies are just so dangerous
All the excuses…
No sense of order…no protection
No power…

That’s why I say
Go…jump…jump…stay…no…go
Jump….just stay…
Oh cause your on my time...no excuses
Full power…

You say it’s too late…My time is almost over
You said it’s too late…
It’s all my problems…all my anger
No our…

All the excuses…my crimes are just so worthless
All the excuses…
No sense of order…no protection
No power…

That’s why I say
Go…jump…jump…stay…no…go
Jump…just stay…
Oh cause you’re on my time…no excuses
Full Power…

Oh!
Why do you always say it’s over….Yeah!

Solo

Why do you always say it’s over
Why do you always change your mind

That’s why I say
Go…jump…jump…stay…no…go
Jump…just stay…
No cause you’re on my time…no excuses
Full power

Repeat Chorus (once)

Say you will

Written By: C Rothman, E Meyer

You know there’s calm before the storm
Before there’s night or day I must die to reform
A struggle a through another day
Took inside my friend and then just slipped away

Come be free before the lies
Come be free see how we struggle in our lives
Come be free before the lies

I know what’s known before its safe
We’ve walked for miles and nothing seems even the same
A struggle through a troubled life
Took a look inside myself just need to make it right…

Come be free before the lies
Come be free see how we struggle in our lives
Come be free before the lies

Say… say you will say you will…
Oh oh say you will say you will…
Say…say you will say you will…
Oh say…

Solo

Come be free before the lies
Come be free see how we struggle in our lives
Come be free before the lies

Say… say you will say you will…
Oh oh say you will say you will…
Say…say you will say you will…
Oh say…
