About
Sledgehammer’s music is intended to be an avant-garde form of technically sound yet marketable metal/prog/rock. The instrumentation alone speaks volumes and in ways forces undeniable unique characteristics to be brought out in the music. However, the music is structured in a way that listeners can enjoy it leisurely for its interesting and fun qualities, or be challenged by the complex musical properties that are strategically placed throughout the songs. The lyrical content does its best not to contain redundant themes. It follows a through-composed structure while exploring themes in a literary fashion, while expressing thoughts and feelings through creative stories. Both the music and lyrics are guaranteed to provide memorable motives and phrases. The goals of Sledgehammer are to become professional touring and recording artists, while staying true to writing the music that represents their artistic vision. Sledgehammer offers professionalism in attitude, performance, equipment, and musicality.
Short Version Bio
250+ shows played across Ontario, Quebec, Michigan, and Ohio. Over 3000 album copies sold. Recently released an 8 track EP (Revenge Equals Profit Equals Power) recorded, mixed and mastered at SLR Studios in Pro Tools HD. Andrew and Paul are brothers from Windsor, having played together since Sledgehammer’s inception in 2004. John was acquired in 2006 (originally on drums), but switched to his true passion - the marimba in 2009, when Joe was added to replace John behind the drums. Three band members, Andrew, John and Joe study/studied Music at the University of Windsor (ON, Canada). Paul studies music privately.
