Bio
Deep within Adelaide lurks super band Sleeper Channel, comprised of Mike McGroder (bass), Shamus Baldwin (drums) and Panos Dionysopoulos (guitar and vocals). Each member comes with a musical background: Mike has been involved with bands such as Meanderthal and Shamus with bands such as Sprawl and Muscle Car. Now they join forces to create unique noise, ripped direct from within the trio. Panos started dreaming songs, Mike moved to Adelaide from Melbourne searching for new musical endeavours and Shamus saw one of their early shows with Sleeper Channel’s first drummer and wanted to get on board. After some intense jamming they got a set list together, recorded a demo and started playing the ‘circuit’. One of their major goals is to affect people on a deeper level. To write music that will both connect with people and unsettle them. To be true to their musical ideals and play shamanistic tribal noise but still be catchy. And affect, connect and play they do. Described in local music ‘rag’ Rip It Up as ‘brooding noise merchants’ and having received airplay on JJJ program 'short.fast.loud', Sleeper Channel are currently finishing off 8 new songs that will hopefully lead to an album and plan to write music that’ll be remembered for years on. Don’t forget it.
