Sleepfreak

Sleepfreak is a brand new hard rock band originating out of the southern region of Perth. With a dynamic style of metal, blues and alternative rock, they are truly an all-out assault on the senses. Incorporating blistering guitar solos, melodic keyboards, soaring vocals, hard hitting drums and soul moving bass, Sleepfreak entices listeners with electrifying tracks such as '12 Months' and 'Spill'. There is never a dull moment once the band takes the stage, captivating and engaging all listeners.

Consisting of members, Antoni Garac (Guitar / Vocals), Tom Haste (Bass / Vocals), Aaron Simich (Keyboards / Guitar) and Daniel DaConceicao (Drums and Piri Piri), this dynamic group of talented musicians originally began their journey under the name Fixxer. Over the years the band has gained invaluable musical experience and built a solid and respected name for themselves. They also had the awesome opportunity to gig with other kick-ass local acts such as Emerald City, Trident Winter, Hail Mary and Kevin Got Lucky, to name but a few.

After successfully winning the Best Original Band Competition in 2006 held at La Bog Inn, the band took on the very fortunate opportunity to work with the incredible late John Villani at Northbridge Sound Studios, where the early foundations of Sleepfreak had emerged. Despite the short time the band had with Villani before his unfortunate passing, his creative and inventive influence lay grace to some of the bass and drum tracks for the debut EP. The experience was one to remember, working in the bumbling city of Northbridge, where one of the band members was falsely arrested for armed robbery – luckily it was merely a case of mistaken identity.

Left with the task of piecing everything together, the very talented and amazing Benji (Ben Morris) and Rosco (Ross Stewart) from Ampersonic Studios came to the rescue and made it possible for the project to be completed. Ampersonic Studios became the band's new home, after pouring blood, sweat and countless hours into the making of the debut EP, it was mixed ready for mastering and already sounding amazing. Taking the tracks to Shaun O'Callagham (Studio Couch) for mastering was a brilliant choice for the band, as his incredible ability to manipulate sound and energetic personality was felt by everyone, all before he too very sadly and unfortunately passed away. Both Shaun and John will be greatly missed by all.

The debut EP was complete, and ready to hit the scene like a freight train. The band needed a new unique name to highlight the unique sound and direction they were heading to - Sleepfreak was officially born. With the release of their self-titled EP, new name and thunderous sound, Sleepfreak will be lining up shows throughout WA, as well as planning a national tour, to satisfy the rapid increase of its following.

Ready to take on Australia and the rest of the world, Sleepfreak are setting out to rock the hell out of everyone and leave their stain on the music scene for years to come. Watch for Sleepfreak as they have only just begun to take hold and enthral audiences, it's going to be one hell of a ride....
