Sunny, hazy, and a bit burnt out, born from a city with a fetish for folk rock, Sleeping Jesus rises from the ashes crafting slick, lush, and dreamy indie rock gems. Lyrics of love, lust, and escapism dance across a kaleidoscope of sound as a jesus like figure hypnotically sways across the stage. Sleeping Jesus is, in every essence, the foreplay of indie rock. In their six month existence, they have played with some of the nation’s finest indie sweethearts, The Staves, Night Moves, Haley Bonar, Day Wave, and EZTV, to name a few.
The release of the single, California At Dawn, has brought the band through the midwest. California At Dawn has been featured on MPR's The Current, whom the band just won a Local Music Exchange contest with, where they will be featured on two showcases at First Avenue's Seventh Street Entry and in Winnipeg, Canada. Sleeping Jesus has performed live at Daytrotter Studios and Radio K in Minneapolis. The band will make their Main Room debut at First Avenue on January 18, after being chosen as one of the best new bands of 2016.
