Bio

At the end of 2008 four long time friends decided to come together to vent frustrations, to share ideas, to try and step outside of themselves…to make music. SLEEPNOISE was born partly out of the necessity to create and express themselves, and partly to change the current face of rock. With so many mainstream bands turning out regurgitated, plastic ideas, aesthetically molded to fit into a stale scene, SLEEPNOISE has turned their back and is forging their own path. Pulling inspiration from personal life lessons, the arteries of great rock bands (Soundgarden, Jane’s Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins), and the chaotic electricity of today’s world, SLEEPNOISE is striving to make people feel, to make people think, to make people sit up and pay attention.

Danny Schreiber (vocals) and Joe Gonzalez (guitar) have been playing and creating together since they were kids growing up in the California Central Valley. With Danny on drums and Joe on guitar, the two were a part of some of the most influential bands in the Central Valley’s local music scene. Joe ended up moving to Sacramento and forming Cleanse with Dave Maritch (drums) and had a huge impact on Sacramento music. Around the same time Mike Arrieta (bass) was touring the world and recording with Hollywood Record’s Simon Says. Various life circumstances contributed to the demise of Cleanse and Simon Says, leading to the formation of two new bands that shook the foundation of music at the time. Danny and Joe reunited to form Pome and within one month of releasing their debut EP, signed a management deal with Atlantic/VelvetHammer Music Management. Dave and Mike ended up forming Key to Arson and signed a deal with Spunout Records shortly after releasing their debut album. Once again, due to life circumstances the two bands fell. After brief stints in numerous other projects, the four finally found themselves united for the first time

The original SLEEPNOISE line-up had Danny on second guitar leaving the band searching for vocals. Several hopeless months of tryouts and demos led Danny to acknowledge the voice leading him to the front. After recording vocals to three songs in his studio and presenting them to the band, the search for vocals was over. SLEEPNOISE was complete and instantly began recording their debut EP White Empty Rooms. With deeply personal lyrics mostly pulling from past relationships crooned out with darkly beautiful melodies; heavy guitars weaving a dense wall of fuzz and passion, and a driving rhythm section that pounds out hypnotic patterns that command attention, SLEEPNOISE is truly a new twist on the genre of rock for the upcoming decade. With just about six months as a band, SLEEPNOISE has managed to generate an enormous amount of buzz (7000 friends, 120,000 plays and over 200,000 views on myspace), playing shows like CSU Warrior Day (to a crowd of thousands), opening up for Trust Company and The Dreaming (Stabbing Westward), while continuing to see their crowd grow at each performance.

SLEEPNOISE has plans to record their debut full length album at the end of 2009, secure professional management, and tour the world. With the life experiences and bond between the members, you can expect to see SLEEPNOISE continue to grow and push themselves creatively, producing honest music for some time.
