"MuchEast"

"I have been fortunate enough to have had Pauline show me her songs through all their various stages of development, and it is my opinion that she is up to something that I am not hearing elsewhere.

That opinion is also shared by other industry folks in my neck of the woods that have heard her demos..." - Mike Campbell - Host/Producer

"Post Script Music Productions"

"....Pauline is musically blessed with both a talent for writing fresh and evocative melodies, and a unique, beautifully haunting voice..." - Carlos Lopes

""Get Real Get it Live""

"Sleeps Six have been gaining increasing attention for putting a fresh face on the often tired sound of roots/folk based music. The band is fronted by Pauline Groen's soaring, passionate vocals, her ear for dark, haunting melodies and powerful, brooding writing.

Ranging from slippery Cowboyesque melodies to fiery confessions at the altar of love and religion, Sleeps Six turn acoustic music into a full out assault on the senses. The forceful nature of the songs is complimented by a dynamic and well versed band that knows how to change gears effortlessly." - C'est What

"Sleeps Six To Play International Festival"

Press release - Toronto, Ont (April 14, 2010)- Fronted by vocal powerhouse Pauline Groen, and backed by some of the industry's most respected side men, Sleeps Six is set to storm into major festivals across North America this summer.

Already confirmed and booked to play two performances at the 2010 Indiegrrl International Music & Art Festival and Conference August 19 - 20 in Knoxville, TN, Sleeps Six will tour in support of its 2010 release "Late Enough".

Formed by Groen in 2007, Sleeps Six is fueled by world class musicians who have backed some of Canada's best: Guitarist Marc Ganetakos has played for Nelly Furtado and Ashley MacIsaac; Drummer Rob Greenway has backed Amanda Marshall and Ray Montford, while bassist Jim Field rounds out the band.

Already veterans of such prestigious music festivals as Toronto's NXNE, Sleeps Six is a band with depth and a reputation for memorable live shows. Groen's ear for strong melodies and brilliant lyrics leaves audiences remembering...

Industry professionals and insiders have been heaping praise on Sleeps Six for years. Corey Robertson, former Operations Manager/Director of Programming and Music at Mix 96.7 CHYR-FM says, "Sleeps Six delivers memorable songs. Groen's vocals are reminiscent of early Chrissie Hynde - full of emotion, strong and fun. "What Do You Mean" stands as one of their strongest tracks - great lyrics, strong melodies, and a catchy hook. Their live shows inject energy into the room, and fire into their amps. Seasoned fans sing along, while newcomers jump up to dance."

"Sleeps Six selected as finalist in ReviewPosse's Song Contest (May 26/2010)"

Sleeps Six – What Do You Mean? | Finalist | Expose Yourself Song Contest
Sleeps Six |Founded by Pauline Groen, whose strong and unique, captivating voice immediately hook you for the duration. The band is in no rush to make their statements and as such we have a strong slow rock meter with gooey delicious slide guitar, trapping you in a delicious, cacophony of hook filled melody that will make you hit the replay button over and over.
Pauline and the band have retro country blues folk rock feel that does so well at summer festivals and would sound outstanding at bigger venues. Look for a new release titled “Late Enough”, due in 2010 and immediately buy it. - Review Posse

"Year End Review"

"Another point of the year-end list is to turn you on to some brilliant musicians that you've probably never heard of. Possum, Laura Repo, The Undesirables and Sleeps Six, for example, haven't even released CD's as of this writing: but they're all going to, and they're all talented artists and great live acts worth seeking out."

-Howard Druckman
Music Editor - Chart Magazine

Bio

What is a band that can slip into the soundtrack of your life, then leave you humming the memories? That's Sleeps Six.

Founded by Pauline Groen, this is a band with depth. Groen's ear for evocative melodies continues, and the band is on pace to finish their third album in 2014, following "Nacre" and "Late Enough".

The grit and sheen combined are what make Sleeps Six a memorable live act...this band can make itself at home anywhere from a songwriter's circle to a roadhouse bar to a festival stage and knows how to switch gears effortlessly. True band chemistry is also a big part of the live appeal, there's an unspoken bond that can only be forged after many shows together...

Sleeps Six has also continued its pace of performing at benefits, ranging from the Red Door women's shelter, Richmond Hill Food Bank, Toronto Epilepsy Foundation, YMCA Strong Kids Foundation, as well as festivals: two performances at NXNE Toronto, Red Roof Women's Music Festival in Tweed, Ontario, Music On Main Festival in Loretto, Ontario, three performances at the Indiegrrl Int'l Festival in Knoxville Tenn, and taken part in a writer's circle performance hosted by Joe Hrasna at the Blue Bar in Nashville, Tenn, all with invites to return as well as radio interviews available in Knoxville, notably the Blue Plate Special show on WDVX at 102.9 FM.
On the radio front, Sleeps Six was featured as part of a three month playlist on Women Of Substance online radio, with three songs from the newly released album featured. "What Do You Mean", "My Mind", and "Burnout" were selected for the playlist. "My Mind", along with "What Do You Mean" and "Hold On" have received interest for airplay at the Knoxville, Tennessee based radio station.
"What Do You Mean" has also received very favourable attention as a finalist in the Review Posse's "Expose Yourself" song contest. See review in Sleeps Six press category. And of course the newly released "What Do You Mean" video is already gaining interest and support online.

Television appearances and performances on Rogers Daytime TV for York Region, Toronto, Ontario, with a standing invite to return anytime, as well as being selected for the television's upcoming pilot band spotlight series featuring indepth interviews/performances are further key signs that Sleeps Six is on the verge of a breakout in the media.

We're absolutely stoked to continue expanding our audience, and reaching people wherever there's a chance to do so. The raw energy and undeniable charisma of Sleeps Six is a perfect fit for music festivals and knows how to rock a set in any venue!
