Sleep to Dream

A unique rock quartet from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Sleep to Dream’s music offers an infectiously fresh and dynamic blend of rock; a melodic collision where soaring vocals meet hard edged rhythm. Shortly after forming the band recorded their first EP, nervous creatures, and on April 21, 2007, released their debut full length album, "Breaking the Silence. In their fist year Sleep to Dream toured heavily throughout Atlantic Canada in support of nervous creatures; they played often and they played hard, with a focus on the development of their musical style and on the cohesion of the band into a solid and creative unit. Gelling quickly both as musicians and friends Sleep to Dream has indeed found their sound.

No strangers to the stage, Sleep to Dream has captured their entrancing and huge live sound on their debut 'album. ‘Breaking the Silence’ is the culmination of the past year and a half spent on the road, together, and immersed in music. With comparisons ranging from Matthew Good to Incubus, The Smashing Pumpkins to Pink Floyd, ‘Breaking the Silence’ brings you twelve original songs that carve the traditional face of rock into something uniquely their own. Whether it is the four on the floor force of the album’s opener Wide Awake, the instantaneous catch of the album’s first single, Souvenir, the musical push and pull of 2:11, or the moving beauty of Faster Fastest, this album jumps from the gates and hooks like a magnet from the press of play!

Returning from their first central Canadian tour earlier this summer the band shot a video for the album’s first single ‘Souvenir’! The video made use of two unique and visually interesting locations; one a centuries old dairy farm, the other an Olympic sized swimming pool at night! These sites along with ‘out of the box’ edits that cut to the beat and some amazing ‘mood lighting’, have resulted in a fast and eye catching music video and a hole new experience of Sleep to Dream!

With over 200 shows under their belt since forming in early 2006 Sleep to Dream’s development has been fast and focused, and they have no desire to slow down now! Returning from their first central Canadian tour this May the band shot a video for the album’s first single “Souvenir” which was released early in July. This fall the band will be touring nationally across Canada and throughout the western US in support of Breaking the Silence. Watch for them, odds are they’ll be playing soon near you!
