Bio

Sleepybird's music is a unique combination of acoustic instrumentation and modern technology, where you'll hear something different if nothing else. In addition to steady recording and numerous stage appearances, they work alongside painters, sculptors, writers, directors, photographers and dancers to help influence the sights and the sounds.

The band was formed in the winter of 2004 when singer-songwriter Nick Tertel started playing his homespun ditties on the local musicians' co-op circuit. Thinking that he could benefit from a larger sound, Nick recruited bassist Jason Dryden of Fermata and Jaime Legato, who played with Nick in his previous incarnation Giant Jerk. Trombonist Dustin Malone was added to the lineup in 2005 and Violinist Elizabeth Landis joined in 2006. Sleepybird has been a fixture in the Midwest, playing festivals such as Cincinnati's Midpoint Music Festival, Toronto's North by Northeast, Detroit's Motor City Music Conference and the first two Dayton Music Fests. On the recording front, their debut CD No Flood received great reviews.

Their second album All Things Are Mine will be released October 13th on Dermusik. The package will feature artwork by Amy Kollar-Anderson.
