Slick Moranis basically grew up a "valley" kid in somewhat of an ostracized childhood amongst his friend's and musical peers. Something about the music that was out in his time, it was well enough, nothing to talk shit about...but something was missing for him.
Like a spirit haunting him from long ago, something he could never escape if he tried. "Something....from da past" (ninja turtles the movie)
Soon enough it all made sense to him...that he had not been lucky enough to spend more time in a decade he had so much passion for that would haunt him for the rest of his days. The 80's.
Slick is aware of a lot of the stereotypical cheeseball 80's culture that often is made fun of...but Slick also knew there was always more to that time than that. There was a lot of passionate, melodramatic, cheesy (yes at times but often good charming cheese!), beautiful emotion's expressed back then. These times (but not ONLY these times because Slick even still realizes there is more to life than just any decade) serve as the first dose of inspiration for Slick's music.
Tasteful mullets, neon lights, mini V guitars, babes with big ass teased hair, studs with a lot of dramatic self contimplation, creeeeeeepy crawlers....and much much more beautiful 80's such (for now)
