Biography

Based in traditional country feelings Slick Nickel will leave you wanting more. Influences run from Waylon Jennings and Alan Jackson to Lynard Skynard and Kenny Wayne Sheppard. These four guys are consumate professionals who have road and life experiences that bring such realism to the music they perform, it will sometimes leave you breathless. An incredible country dance band they shine just as brightly in front of a concert audience. More at home on a stage than anywhere else, these guys live to perform. Danny Wrenn is the primary vocalist who has been performing on stages since he was 10 years old, does a mean Willie Nelson impression, and can sing his way into your soul. Jerry Rosner, a graduate of Guitar Institue of Hollywood has also been performing since childhood and has jammed and played with some of the most formost pickers in the US. Jerry and Danny have been picking music together since high school. Jerry has a full baritone story-telling style to his singing and his string bending abilities rival steel guitar licks. Jerry's influences are steeped in Blues and Jazz but can crank with the best. Robby Carrillo is probably the most consistant and steady drummer around. We call him the Charlie Watts of country music, steady as a heartbeat making him the most sought after drummer by the dancers. He has an instinctive knack for harmony vocals and is the comedian of the band. Robby has been drumming since childhood back in Wilcox AZ when he played for Tanya Tucker. Jack Otero is solid as a rock, definitely the sharpest dresser in the band, a gentleman cowboy on stage with a sweet, smooth country voice. Jack is a quality lead vocalist and incredible harmony man, a meticulous bassist who is capable of a steady driving Waylon bass line or the most complicated of jazz bass lines, his influence run from the country sounds of the Bakersfield boys, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, and Lefty Frizell to the soulful music of Chicago rhythm and blues. Jack has been performing since he was knee high to a paper route. Slick Nickel is charismatic and charming, enveloping the audience in a world of stunning textures, soulful riffs, and a range of vocal treats that will leave you breathless.
