"SLIDE releases Auto Tune Massare"

“Something tells me that the guys from SLIDE are not afraid to speak their mind … The lyrics of Auto Tune Massacre go straight from the hearts of the band members right into your soul … the band is incredibly tight all around, the vocals are spot-on, and the production is crisp and clear. You would be hard pressed to find a better album out this year on a major label that satisfied like this independent gem” ~ Matt Crosslin - Down The Line Magazine

"SLIDE launches new website and post album details"

The new SLIDE website is now up and running – designed to match the look and feel of their upcoming debut album. There is a lot to see now, but the future will also bring an exclusive members-only area and more merchandise. Speaking of the debut album, looks like March 13, 2012 will be the official release date. That is over a year away, but also gives the band plenty of time to get the songs just right. So far the plans are the have 10 tracks and at least 3 additional remixes. - DownTheLineZine.com

"SLIDE Updates Their Sound Slightly For New Album"

This update from the SLIDE camp, with details on the new sonic direction their debut ablum will take:

An update on the band’s debut release. There will be 10 tracks plus 3 remixes from Mdavisto for a total of 13 tracks. The sound of SLIDE from the band’s earlier demos has changed dramatically. More alternative rock, harder edge. Except for the remixes, the songs have moved from an electronic focus to a band based alternative rock focus.

Sounds great to me – alternative rock with a harder edge is exactly what I love. - DownTheLineZine.com

"SLIDE films music video at Orange High School"

By EUGENE W. FIELDS / THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

ORANGE An alternative-rock band fronted by an Orange resident this weekend was filming its first music video with the help of Chapman University film students and a member of the TV show “The Waltons.''

The group, SLIDE, used Orange High School as a backdrop for the video, based on a song the group recorded with an anti-bullying message.

Band front-man James Preston said the song, “Dime Store Queer,” is based on a true story of a teenager who was the victim of bullying.

“The kid was perceived as gay in high school and he was beaten up,” said Preston, 43. “His father was an executive for a five-and-dime store.”

Preston is a licensed therapist and said the message of the song and premise of the video is about recovering from hurt.

“Yes, you can acknowledge where things might be,” Preston said. “But where do you find your inner strength? How do you move on?”

The video will feature Preston taking a trip through his past and facing images of bullying. Mary McDonough, who played Erin Walton on the Emmy-Award winning series “The Waltons,” has a cameo.

Preston, a fan of the television show that ran from 1972 to 1981, connected with McDonough through her website and the two became friends.

“It doesn't seem very Walton-like, does it?” McDonough said of her appearance in the video. “I like to teach, and this song is educating, so it seemed very worthwhile.”

Preston found directors Kyle Wade and Matt Brailey by posting a solicit for filmmakers at Chapman's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.

The cost of the three-day shoot was $3,000, Preston said.

“It's all self-financed,” he said.

Brailey said a challenge was synchronizing the song to the video in a storytelling format.

“It is more of like a club-mix,” he said of the song. “And especially for a narrative-based music video, you (generally) want something a little slower. It will be fun.”

Preston said the video is scheduled to be completed by September and will be released on the group's Web site, www.slidemusicgroup.com, as well as on You Tube.

Bio

SLIDE, a four piece Alternative Rock band formed out of Orange County, CA. is the combined musical efforts of James Preston, Mike Baker, Chris Berry and Jeff Lantry. SLIDE released its debut album “Auto Tune Massacre” on March 20th, 2012.

SLIDE’s founding members James Preston (vocals/keys) and Mike Baker (drums) were signed to a label touring together previously in the band Sincerely Paul. Both wanted to continue working together and formed SLIDE. They were eventually joined by guitar-man Chris Berry and bassist Jeff Lantry.

The music of SLIDE is a marriage of aggressive guitar, bass and drums with electronic elements (special FX, noise, loops and synth) thrown in for good measure. The result is music with crossover allure delivering loud punchy hooks, irresistible melodies with a sweeping groove that appeals to alternative rock and pop music fans alike.

Lyrically “Auto Tune Massacre” is an offering for the Facebook generation. James Preston (a licensed psychotherapist) deals with such issues as LGBT bullying, cyber bullying and the basic breakdown in our ability communicate or be genuine with each other.

KCAL FM (2011) - "SLIDE have the catchy hooks that stick with you and enough of an edge to make any fan of rock music sit up and listen. SLIDE blends the best elements of pop, alternative, and rock to create songs that can convey a message, but at the same time, the band doesn't get so serious as to take the fun out of rock music. Look for SLIDE to bring a new flavor to a largely vanilla landscape of new music." ~ Bob "The Bobshow" Gates -- KCAL FM Personality, Inland Empire Ca. ~
