"Modern jazz has a reputation of poorly contrived songs and overly fussy playing for the average punter, guilty of perhaps focusing on the technical instead of the audibly palatable. Slinfold plead not guilty to all charges... And rightfully so!
Fluid, modern, dance driven fusion-jazz tracks which are seasoned with melodic solos and breaks make this band a must see. Slinfold are showing the best of what the new age of young musicians are doing, to try and ditch the preconceptions of any that snore or screech with the mention of jazz. Mix funky beats, intricate Jazzy melodies, and a groovy R'n'B backbone and the result is Slinfold, a collection of UK's finest young talents. The band draws from a vast array of different influences; Herbie Hancock, D'angelo, and George Benson are to name a few. Slinfold combines brilliantly innovative composition with superb improvisation. While pushing the boundaries of modern music, you'll still find yourself wistling the tunes days after the gig!
The bands memebers each contribute a unique character and playing style. This was pivotal when forming the band in the summer of 2009. This has helped Slinfold develope such contrasting compostions and solo styles.
Slinfold Is made up of young musicians all with a wealth of experience in the music industry. Whether touring or recording, members have played internationally at many prestigious festivals and venues, such as: montreux jazz festival (Switzerland), Paradiso (Amsterdam), Debaser (Stockholm, Malmo),Stadio Olimpico di Torino (Turin), 2008 Olimpic Games (Beijing), CCM (Macau), Cultural Centre Olga Cadaval (Sintra), Reno Jazz festival (Nevada), as well as playing on many different European and world tours.
The band features Chris Wintermeyer (Trumpet), Tom Hill (Guitar) Phil Simmonds (Bass), Joe Thomas (Keys), Joao Caetano (Percussion), Phil Jones (Drums).
They are currently writing and recording their debut album to be launched later this year.
