J Slie also know as Slie was born in Los Angeles, California in 1977. Since the eighties Slie has always had an appreciation for rap music, especially beat boxing. He began rapping in the late eighties and hasn't stopped since. In 2004, Slie moved to New York where he met DJ Process and what started as a goofy experiment became much more then either one of them would expect. The album that they created Ain't A Damn Thang Funny was completed in 2006. After the completion of the album, Slie moved back to Los Angeles where he quickly became know for his powerful live performances, comical lyrics, and DJ Process's addictive beats. Slie quickly developed an enthusiastic fan base opening up for such acts as Mickey Avalon, Qwell, DJ Qbert, Digital Underground, Planet Asia, and Andre Nikkatina. Slie has recently had the opportunity to create beats for such feature films "Good Luck Chuck" and "Iron Man" movie websites. Slie's side project was formed in Santa Cruz, California in 2005, five childhood friends known for their forceful live performances, kinetic lyrics, and eclectic beats, came together to create a one-of-a-kind hip-hop sound. During a 2006 West Coast tour with KRS-1, the artist observed that Slop Opera was “the hottest buzz on the tour.” In a review for Your Music Magazine, writer Mike Garing said of “Gettin’ Amongst It”, “there is plenty of music on this album to keep the listener entertained…and with some old school beats mixed with new school tweaks, you will enjoy running through the album twice.” J Slie has no intention of slowing down, continuing to gain notoriety as a first-rate live performer, while recording his second solo album, “Play The Speaker,” on Fall Reign records.
