"What's in a name?"

Much like a mouse trap, Slot 55 is made up of a few simple parts. With out any of those parts in the proper place, and in working order, neither the mousetrap, nor the band would work.
Phil Gorlaski is a song writing machine. What he writes is genuine, and from the heart. I think that’s why his ideas come so fast and so often. They fly right from his head in to his very capable fingers and voice. He has a rare gift.
Mike Morelli. Mike and I met when I decided to take drum lessons (partially to get a better insight on the rhythm section as a whole, and partially just because drums are cool!). It didn’t take long to figure out this guy was a monster! We quickly gained a mutual respect for each other as players, and also became friends. He and I share the same opinion of a rhythm sections roll. And I was instantly impressed with his ideas.
Rich Beaumont (that’s me). I have played bass in successful cover bands for years. My strengths though, are really in other areas. I have a knack for song selection. I bring strength to arranging, and adding dynamics to an arrangement. I know the road from an idea on an acoustic, late at night after the bars have all closed, to a single available on iTunes and everywhere else. I make it happen. My other strengths lay in producing live shows and performing live. Oh, and in being able to recognize those simple parts when I see them, and put them together, that’s a big one!
Odds are the line up may grow just a little before the first album is complete, but either way I think “Free” is a great first release, and look forward to lots more great “power rock and roll” from Slot 55 in the near future!
