Here's a new one from New Jersey racket-making duo Slow Animal, who made an appearance around these parts with "theFUNsun" a long time back. "Heatwave" is scheduled to appear on Slow Animal's debut LP, the release plans of which still have to be firmed up. - Pitchfork

My faith in MySpace has been temporarily restored. As of late, I’ve mostly been getting friend requests from people like this guy (album art of the year?), but thanks to my new New Jersey “friends”, Slow Animal, I think I’ll keep checking for new social networking buds. The dual vocal delivery surrounded by a sea of ooohs and aaaahs backed with unbelievably catchy guitar riffs will be keeping my headphones busy for the next few days. Digging hard on this flailing fuzz-monster of a mucky, careering punk hit from New Jersey newcomers SLOW ANIMAL as of late. “TheFUNsun” is all bitterly romantic razorwire guitar shredding and drawling, down-in-the-mouth miscreant-melody; cracked vocals whooping and hollering as one through remorseless, soiled white noise and hi-hat molestation as two wonderful runaways screaming half-dreamt teenage wall-punching anthems until hoarse; heads hanging out the windows of a battered old rust-bucket forever spinning doughnuts on endless suburban grass.

When I say New Jersey, you might think of bronzer, hair gel, and bad television, but what you should be thinking about is extra fuzzy indie pop. I am talking about Slow Animal.

There's not much information out on New Jersey duo Slow Animal -- we know their names are Alexander and Daniel, and if their MySpace is any indication, they like chopped-up YouTube videos of scenes from Home Alone. Luckily, you don't need much to enjoy "theFUNsun," a sharp, noisy blast of fuzz-rock that resembles their stateside brethren Frat Dad.
