Bio
Slowhand Row first came together in 2002, originally playing under the name of Breaking Glass. Since then the band has come through a few member changes to settle on the five-piece now playing together. With Peter O’Grady on vocals and guitar, Scott Kohlmann on guitar, Leon Kennedy on bass, Stephen Kohlmann on drums and Kieran Quinn on piano; the band has been gigging the Dublin circuit over the past nine months. Their many gigs covered venues such as Whelan’s, The Sugar Club, Slattery’s Rathmines, Eamonn Dorans, The Village, The Voodoo Lounge, The Bridge Tavern and more. The band has proven so popular in Slattery’s that they appeared on a promotional compilation released by the venue.
Describing the musical genre of Slowhand Row is a difficult task. With influences including The Dave Matthews Band, Steely Dan and Stereophonics; their music incorporates elements of Jazz, Latin, Rock and Funk. Slowhand Row’s approach to writing is a collaborative one. One member will bring an idea to practice and the band work on the arrangement together. While their music has some technical arrangements Slowhand Row remain focused on creating a good song, fusing their influences and maintaining a commercial edge.
With three recordings under their belt, Slowhand Row hope to complete recording of their album by the end of this summer. Their two latest songs were recorded with Lance Hogan in Kíla studios and showcased to huge acclaim on GarageBand.com.
