Bio

Started by James (guitars, vox) and Jacob (drums) when they were both 12 years old, Slow Riots has since become a force to be reckoned with on the Australian music scene. Unlike many bands on the Gold Coast, Slow Riots haven't changed their sound to suit the trend (aka. gone hardcore), and have thus remained largely unknown in the 4 years they have been around. Their influences come largely from noise rock bands such as Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, Slint, Rapeman, Shellac, The Mark of Cain and Fugazi, but also dream rock/shoegaze groups like My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, Grouper and the Pixies.

Besides all still being in their teens (James and Jacob are now 16, bassist Rob is 19), Slow Riots have wowed local audiences with their abbrasive stage presence, mature songwriting and profound lyrics. Their debut EP that they have been working on for the last two years is about to be released, under the name "BORED".

Put simply, Slow Riots are not a bunch of garage-dwelling kids who slapped a band together and gave it a name. They are a tight, serious group of musicians who put everything they have into their songs and performances. If you get a chance to see them live, do not pass it up.
