"STR8 CAINE: Bigger & Broader than cars, women & clubs"

I saw STR8 Caine perform at "Flow From The Glass 2004" in Toledo, Ohio and I was impressed.

He came across like a cat who looked around and saw an opening for anyone who applied a little effort at showmanship. And his show was ILL...he had a hype man...he chopped and screwed his joint and he did something that I highly recommend for any performer with an extensive catalog of songs and at least one hit...he did NOT perform entire songs.

He did get enough to get you open and then off to the next joint...I was aware of his buzz, but after that show I put him at the top of the pile as far as Toledo talent was concerned.

Then the next year his SlumLord Music label mate, SIKOSA came out and made mad noise. I mean, dude was damn near inescapable for the better part of 2005. Concerts all over the place, crazy airplay on HOT 97 and the whole 9.

But, this year is STR8 Caine's turn...His new release "BLOW" is supposed to be THAT joint to cop this season and even though the local scene is overrun with no-names trying to get a name, he seems to have the respect of his peers here in the 4-1-9.

The first thing that sticks out to me is the production...it's hard...it's engineered to perfection.

"More scratch than chickenpox" is definitely the line to remmeber from this album. Caine does get some cred for embodying the qualities of his name in "BLOW"

Toledo Crunk can be found on track #4 "STEEL"...this track is one of the obvious club bangers on this album.

Track #5 "WAKE UP MA" got that boy Caine singing a little bit and I ain't mad tho. This is supposed to be that joint for da ladies and it's mellow.

"KEEP ME" Track #9 gets things going. STR8 Caine gets a dope track and lets loose. If you gonna buy this album, I can guarantee you will like this one.

Track #11, "R WORLD" starts off kinda basic, I'm lovin' the second verse. The chorus doesn't match the intense, almost poetic flow on the verse, but this track is among the best.

Overall, STR8 Caine oviously got rhymes and you can tell that his thoughts are bigger and broader than cars, women & clubs.

Bio

STR8 Caine has been rockin' the mic and the midwest mixtape scene for over 10 years...This NW Ohio MC is a product of the streets and the reality of a hard knock life....

I was born to a single parent household...my stepdad was a crack fiend and my moms did her best in raising me." Explains Caine "She was a high school dropout living the everyday struggle, basically a child trying to raise a child. After I got into the game, I went back to the roots of Hip Hop... after 2Pac died I became a monster on the mic. I was slaying all comers on stage, at cyphers and on the street corners...I used my life as my canvass for my art, my words and lyrics began reflecting my frustration and need to be heard.”

Known by his peers and haters alike for rippin' the mic and the midwest mixtape scene...Caine is a product of the streets...with a poets wisdom and warrior's mentality. If today's Hip Hop is about being real then you can get no more pure than STR8 Caine...with the release of his debut single "TIP DOWN" from the soon to be released album "BLOW".
