Review of "Slutty Putty"
Category: Music

Here's a band that I have seen numerous times and I have enjoyed every show. Their music lies somewhere between Garage, Punk and Psychedelic. The perfect mixture, yet somehow it turns into their own sound all together. The band is a four peice consisting of a vocalist, guitarist, bassist and drummer. All members hold it down with solid changes and an ever changing energy level. They bring the tempo way up only to chill it out right out from under you. The bass player and drummer's interactions flow well together. Both excelent musicians. If you haven't seen Drumwhacker beat the skins, you don't know what you are missing. Complex and hard hitting. The guitarist and bassist seem perfectly happy laying back and wailing out the grooves, but don't get me wrong, you won't find a boring show here. It's refreshing to see a front man with stage presence. Great stage antics from Mr. Johnny Fiasco. You might catch him falling on the ground or getting in your face with his slightly gravelly voice reminescent of some blues man, but on a head full of acid. And no Slutty Putty show would be complete without Smut Pappy Andy giving you a dose of his own brand of video projections behind this hard hitting rock and roll. Ranging from psychedelic oil slides to explosions to creepyness from old movies, you never know what you might find being projected behind this band. Do they fit the category of punk rock? Maybe not to the many who are stuck on some narrow minded idea of what punk rock is, but they sure do know how to take rock and roll and twist it into something that is truely Slutty Putty. And for that, i say, "fuck yeah, it's punk!"

Bio

we are 4 very different people with 4 very different musical backgrounds. Somehow we have managed to stay together as long as we have because we are so different. We make music for the love of it, if we didn't we would probably go loopy from the drama and stuff that goes with this crazy business. We have been on the road once or twice and survived. we also have opened for such National acts as Agent Orange, Friends of Dennis Wilson, Lust, Kill the Hippies, Shark Pants, and local favs The Love Me Nots.
