SMACK DAB BIOGRAPHY: Smack Dab was formed by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist David John in the summer of 2007 and plays primarily in Northern California. Smack Dab has been described as a highly energetic band with a wide array of talent and outstanding performance style highlighted by technical excellence with well crafted musical arrangements. They perform original interpretations and outside-the-box arrangements of popular and classic covers as well as many original selections. The band plays clubs, events, corporate parties, festivals, bistro and coffee houses, fairs, and weddings from 2 person acoustic shows to 7 person full band and from rockin country to classic rock and blues.

Eagles Greatest Hits (my first band influence, and my first album), Dwight Yoakam (put the cool in hick), Hank Williams (simple and pure), Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac (what a groove), Frampton (do you feel like I do), Rascal Flatts (you made new hot country cool and crossover), Brad Paisley (riff master), Allman Bro's, Leonard Skynard, 38 Special (soulful southern rock), Nirvana (deep), Petty, Queen, Foghat (I'm a fool for the city, but love the country too), Ambrosia (mellow, great harmonies), Gama, Van Halen (power rock), Sammy Hagar, U2 (Bono kicks), Del Amitri (they're a Scottish band, Justin you are the best songwriter ever, ok Bono your good too), Kent (Swedish band, ja ska da, ping me if you know what it means), George Strait (miracle man, 57 #1 hits and counting), Journey, ELO, Alan Jackson, Patty Loveless, Weezer (unwind my sweater to beverely hills), John Michael Montgomery (pioneered NHC), The Babys (remember them, John Waite lead singer), and yes I will come out and admit Duran Duran (I listened but I didn't inhale). Keating, Pope, Whitman, Frost (the woods are lovely dark and deep, but i have promises to keep, and miles to go before i sleep, and miles to go before i sleep, tell me thats not a great lyric), Byron, Yates, Shakespear, and of course the incomparable and ever audacious Oscar Wilde ("We wont have to look for work and work wont have to look for us. We are all of us in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."), and pretty much anything ever written or performed that is great. www.myspace.com/smackdabtheband
