Smalltown Son

Small Town Son is a modern era country band hailing from southern
Michigan. STS plays an eclectic blend of new country, old country,
southern and classic rock, modern rock and pop hits, some bluegrass
and acoustic rock, as well as a solid selection of original songs written
by the band or with songwriters in the Nashville Songwriters
Association International.

Small Town Son is known for two things in particular: honest, real-life
original songs that are unforgettable, and the energetic, clever, and
often humorous, stage show and antics involving the band and crowd.
STS kept hearing from our friends that the country bands in the area
were all older men and women, who played great music but didn’t
connect as well with the younger crowd that typically frequents those
venues. Small Town Son provides the answer to that, with great
experience and musicianship, but still young enough to connect with
that market and write songs that people relate to.”

Small Town Son consists of Kris Hitchcock, lead vocals and guitar, Ian
Szarafinki on guitar, mandolin and vocals, Dan Anspaugh on bass and
vocals, and Ben Crites on drums.

Small Town Son has developed a devoted following in the southern
Michigan area, playing rocking shows at places like Hog’s Palace
(Jackson), Wayside West (Kalamazoo), the Intersection (Grand
Rapids), and the Muskegon Summer Celebration (Muskegon) to name
a few. STS shows have extended from Kalamazoo through Battle
Creek, Jackson, and Ann Arbor, as far north as Muskegon and Grand
Rapids, and south through Ohio all the way to Moscow, Indiana. STS
has also had the honor of playing with country stars like Luke Bryan,
Flynnville Train, and Cledus T. Judd.

STS markets its self very successfully online through Myspace,
Facebook, our website, musical forums and internet radio stations.
STS also send fliers to the venues theur are playing at
well in advance of their show
Small Town Son’s appeal for a venue stems mostly from the high
energy show that promotes an exciting atmosphere for the audience,
the marketable image and draw of STS fans, and the honest, humble
business attitude that makes the band easy to work with.
