SMARTBOX are a 2-piece band, born and raised in south london. We consist of a lead vocalist / bass player (Wayne Maslin) and a drummer (Matt Pittori) who also controls a sequencer when we play live on stage.
The sequences are played out by using either a CD player or minidisc / DAT / Mp3 player which is plugged into the PA, triggering off some pre-recorded guitars, backing vocals, synths and samples to complete a surprisingly powerful and unique hard rock orientated sound.
We have been making music together on and off for the past 8 years in total. We used to be known as 'DBV' (Drums,Bass & Voice) back then, and it was exactly the same setup as what we are using now.
DBV ended back in 2000 due to unforseen circumstances that were beyond our control.
We reformed again in 2002, after attaining the use of our own studio for writing and recording new material by ourselves, for ourselves and for various other side projects (Bikini Royale, Tinks).
We are currently based in sheperds bush, london.
