Smokestack Relay

3 years ago Joshua Chaplin and Zach Mason were working the NYC scene in the band Fineas Fog. The band broke up and they went their own ways, but not for long. Soon enough they found themselves working on music together. For his whole lifetime Joshua had longed for a sound that he only heard in strains of other music. He had always enjoyed the folk melodies of other cultures and strived to absorb their rhythms and sonorities. Roma music in particular; the music of a moving, changing, ever developing world, caught his ear. The music has roots in India where the tribes spread out across the world taking on the musical aspects of the places they stopped and then moving on. And so with that in mind Smokestack Relay was born. Joshua and Zach worked together for three years bringing in these rhythms, melodies and harmonies, then moving on and mixing them with their own individual ideas of music. The culmination is their soon to be released EP, Traitor's Promise.
