The refined diamonds of Atlanta's Urban culture, the members of the Smokin Words Lounge compose the cornerstones in the legacy of Atlanta's world-renowned Spoken Word scene. Founders of the "FreeForum Xchange," Atlanta's premier spoken word open mic, we have been engaged in nurturing artists, and entertaining crowds for over 7 years.
Influenced by the greats, like Gil Scott Heron, Nikki Giovanni, Chester Himes, Prince, Public Enemy, Billie Holliday, De La Soul, and so many others, our show is steeped in the tradition of great performers from vaudeville, through jazz, rhythm & blues and into the contemporary era.
Our commitment to contribution - sharing the secrets to our success, and engaging in the dynamic discussion that makes everywhere we go a better place when we leave it - is what makes the Smokin Words Lounge experience so outstanding.
