"Indie rap artist Smoky Bare is proud to announce the release of his new EP “Kansas to California”."

Dateline: Los Angeles, California, April 8, 2013 – Indie Rap Artist Smoky Bare, whose musical roots stem from the influences of 50 Cent, Jay-Z, and Nelly is pleased to announce the release of his new EP, “Kansas to California”. As part of the kick off of his performance career, Smoky Bare will appear this April 11 in Houston Texas for Coast2Coast LIVE. The show starts at 9pm located at Warehouse Live, 813 Saint Emanuel St. Houston, Texas.
Smoky Bare is from Kansas but has recently moved to Colorado. A young, talented blessed lyricist; Bare loves to combine his original hip-hop beats with reality experiential lyrics that will carry listeners to a unique and unforgettable emotive experience. Right now Bare is happy to give away much of his music for free to develop a loyal fan base, which can be obtained at various music distribution sites across the internet, including
Bare had this to say about his writing and music style, “Something that pushes me and really helps me keep my focus is something a homie of mine told me, ‘If you don’t have much to offer the world that they couldn’t find anywhere else then you’re not a money maker and that’s how it works.’ Often times I find myself being jealous or inspired by other artists’ work and I might try something similar. If my work is different but still similar, I end up unfortunately, with something unoriginal. This is why I try to be completely different, so I won’t make it sounding like someone who’s already out. If I do, I might be able to make a hit but It’s just not me. I don’t care to have everybody like me because being different at the start never starts out cool. I know I’m cool, and offer many gifts, so it’s just a matter of time before I develop a loyal audience of fans. I really am that confident.”
Bare is very excited about his prospects and is in the process of producing a new track in collaboration with Ski Beatz, the legendary producer who has worked with Jay-Z and Curren$y. He also also recently launched his official Artist profile on MTV at:

Rap Power Hour: The latest in hip-hop music

303 Magazine, Denver Music

Young AmsterdamRap Power Hour is the place you come to listen to the latest happenings from some of Denver’s favorites. With the impending 4/20 holiday on the horizon, many of the MC’s are taking the opportunity to showcase some of the city’s finest in music, performance and of course, greenery. F.L. of The Foodchain is leading the pack with his “Young Amsterdam” movement. We featured his clip “Time” in last week’s edition and this week he’s joined by Pries, Isaiah Kelley, Ha$h, Preview and more. Here at 303 Magazine, we like to celebrate new things. Get into these rap tracks from artists repping the Mile High City to the fullest.

Earlier this week Pries released “Revenge of the Nerd,” a mixtape he’s calling his final project before releasing a full-length album. A perfect balance of pop songs and hard-core rap, Pries is at his finest and isn’t taking any prisoners on this one. He’s eloquent in his delivery and positively vulnerable in his display. Excellent job. Download below.

Check out “Revenge Of The Nerd” here:

And here’s the mixtape’s first single, “Silver & Gold”

F.L. of The Foodchain is on the move as of late and the latest leak from “Young Amsterdam” is “Dimes.” The track, as you can imagine, is about that perfect amount of herb that does the trick. He shouts out Frosted Leaf Dispensary and lets the hook ride out on this KushedOutTreezy produced one. “Young Amsterdam” is out on, you guessed it; 4/20. Listen below:

Smoky Bare’s submission for the week “Workin” might quietly be one of the hottest submissions we’ve received in a while. Vulnerable and tenacious, this song is tight because it’s the tale of the moment when you choose to follow your own path. By any means necessary, Smoky Bare is getting out his dreams and he’s willing to do it on his own. Nice. Listen below: - 303 Magazine

Smoky Bare - Your Medication

If the cover art, mixtape title, or artist name didn’t tip you off, the first few tracks will let you know; this is one for the smokers. Ambient tones, filtered vocals, and a meandering flow. This will play well with a niche (albeit growing) audience, but there’s some gems in there for the masses. - HipHopRollCall

"Smoky Bare - Workin"

“Hailing from Denver, Colorado, Smoky Bare is a hip-hop artist who set out to deliver tracks with a direct and spontaneous approach, musically and lyrical speaking.

Smoky Bare continues to impress with each new leak, and Workin is no exception. It's strengthens Smoky Bare's already impressive body of work, which has seen positive change over the years. We're most definitely anticipating Smoky Bare's next offering.

"January 15: Smoky Bare "Stage Lights" release party @ Lost Lake Lounge"

2015 will be the year of Colorado hip-hop; we can feel it deep down in our bone structures. There are just too many good artists here not to get recognized nationally. There's still time to jump on the bandwagon, too. If you’re lost on where to begin try this banger of a release show coming soon featuring Smoky Bare.

Per a recent press release about his new video:

“Spencer "Smoky Bare" Laster has released the music video for "City Lights/Dreamin", the single from the "Stage Lights" EP, scheduled to drop on January 15th, 2015. The song, written by Smoky and produced by Blackbible, is a candid declaration of the rapper's allegiance to the music.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers sample is atmospheric and the video captures the euphoria of Smoky's experience with music. Leland Schmidt, who's worked with many other Colorado hit-makers (including Trev Rich, Pries, and The Famm) shot, directed, and edited the video.

"Quickie Reviews:"

Smoky Bare is an up-and-coming Denver emcee with a unique visionary mind. His beats are hardly what you’d expect from a standard hip-hop album and appeal to the darker senses with a certain indescribable comfort. His standout track, “Pitch Black,” is an oddity. It’s driven with a slow-tempo drawl, eerie vocals and strangely haunting backend. It also tries to answer age-old quandaries like “how much weed does it take to stuff into my cigar?” - See more at: - Rooster Magazine

"Listen Locally: Denver emcee Smoky Bare drops 3 smooth new tracks just because"

If we know anything from creeping over Smoky Bare’s social media sites, it’s that the Denver emcee loves to smoke weed and make music. And he says he has a lot of songs from all of the sessions he gets himself into, too. So much so that he just dropped 3 new tracks ... just because — something he could have made a big hoopla over like everyone else. But nah, he just wanted to gift his followers some goods.

Spencer "Smoky Bare" Laster's sound is old school. His charisma and affection for live performance seduces long-term fans while his candid lyricism intrigues a new audience. With lucid, ambient sounds and sparse, melodic lines, the rapper visits an era when the Casio keyboard ruled the rap scene and transports his fans to an alternate future in a modernized, analog universe.

Born in October '92 in Junction City, Kansas, Smoky began rapping at an early age. At 16, he already had something to say. So, to make his voice be heard, he learned to command the mic. By the time he was 19, the Audio Engineering student had grown to become a performer. He successfully turned his craft into his hustle with the release of his first mixtape in 2012.

In 2013, Smoky left Junction City and brought his grind to Denver, Colorado. With diligence and passion as his foundation, he just concentrates on making good music and developing his skill. Smoky Bare's quiet intensity is a solid infrastructure. "My journey has been a long one and I have a lot more I need to accomplish," he says. "I've met [a lot of] great musicians and made some fans. I just need everyone to finally open their ears and listen...I'm just confident in my craft... many people love my music at first listen. I speak my mind and stay true to my beliefs. I hope my music represents that."

To date, the rapper has 2 EP releases and 2 mixtape releases: "Burgundy Hills” (Mixtape) Released: October 31st, 2012, "Kansas To California" (EP) Released: March 18th, 2013, "Something Unexpected" (EP) [Prod. by Jay B] Released: June 11th, 2013, and “Your Medication” (Mixtape) Released: April 20th, 2014. His fifth release, the "Stage Lights" EP, is available on January 15th, 2015.
