SmoothQ™'s story starts off in a place that is no stanger to greatness, Brooklyn NY, the birthplace of some of contemporary music's greatest talents. When he was just a very young child in Brooklyn, his mother quickly realized his vocal talents, often times having him sing Micheal Jackson songs until the sun would go down. It wasn't until his family moved to New Jersey during his elementary schooling, that his talents would become known to others. He sang in school performances, but if you didn't ask him to sing he kept it to himself, even at an early age he possessed a humble swagger. Throughout junior high he was a member of the New Jersey Regional Youth Choir, which at one point even performed at Lincoln Center. During high school (in the Atlanta area), his musical opportunities became limited to singing in parking lots with a few of his closest friends, to no crowd but themselves. At that point he was more focused on his academic studies as well as track and field. Upon reaching College, he began searching for his true passion, as he was growing unsatisfied with the prospect of having a career divoid of artistic expression. This search lead him right back to music and singing. He and two of his friends formed a trio that quickly disbanded due to "creative differences". Shortly after that, he went and auditioned for a local independent label in Atlanta, but that situation quickly fizzled, and Smooth had to figure something out. He needed to have a demo, but he felt as though he could not trust just anyone with his expansive self-written song catalogue. As they say, necessity is the mother of invention, so out of a need for musical production, he elected to invest in some software and begin producing his own tracks.
SO NOW THAT YOU ARE UP TO DATE, we can get into what type of Artist SmoothQ™ really is. In a nutshell, he writes with the vision and originality of a young Smokey Robinson, he produces tracks with a Kanye West-like creative flare, and he sings with a soothing tone that has been likened to that of an R-Kelly/ Craig David melange, but he has range and he is not afraid to show it on tracks like "Sorry". An even with all that, he has a marketability factor that goes through the roof. The Bottom line is that SmoothQ™ is one of the brightest multifaceted young Talents in music today, discovered or undiscovered.
