Biography

“Just wait until I open up my eyes......."

The self fulfilling prophecy of Smuggling Molasses rings true as they make their debut into the Chicago music scene with nothing to lose and everything to say. Influenced by the Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, the Cure, Wilco, and the Pixies, the band's music consists of unrelenting guitars, pounding drums, and inventive vocals. Smuggling Molasses pulls it together with perfect harmony, and melodic grandeur.

The band was formed by childhood friends Don Hauser (Vocals/guitar) and Noriel Gomez (lead guitar). They took their many basement sessions
and came up with many interesting and eclectic pieces of music, and even performed at some local bars with this material. Both realizing something was missing, they started their pursuit to find percussions that would bring the music to life. Enter Dave Marquez, a co-worker of Don. Dave's dedication was intense and loyal to both Don and Noriel which breathed a different kind of life into the music. A few short months later, the three members found the low end sound they so definitely needed. This sound was coming from a bass guitar that belonged to Dave Zambrano.
Now the chemistry is supreme and all the ideas and thoughts that all the members had in their heads for years are finally put into motion.

Smuggling Molasses has a five song ep out entitled "Thirteen days till the end of the world". Currently the band is working to expose their stylings to music lovers all over Chicago, and will make sure that their voice does not go unheard.

Lyrics

Capture

Written By: Don hauser

when your feeling down and the stars don't shine escape, to the shore line.
where your eyes lit the sky no worries you and i
capture, this moment
capture, this time
capture, this feeling inside

and i feel alive
i wont die
i live my life for you
and i feel alive

when its not alright and its out of sight escape to the first night
where your eyes lit the sky no worries you and i
capture, this moment
capture, this time
capture, this feeling inside

close your eyes
go to sleep
dream of me and know
I love you
good night

Set List

in no particular order we usually give the fans a 45 - an hour set. we like to start off blowing people away like with kamikaze or Country drive (some of our heavier stuff. we the will transition into some of what we like to call our heartfelt songs like either tobar nam, dreamed, or even hilarious, after this lull in heavyness we like to give it back to the fans with piperboy then capture. we owe the crowd, if its a good show, the ever loving chicago (a song about the city we love). lately we have been covering the pixies where is my mind as a finale with the unrelentiong original jam riff at the end reminiscent of zeppelin or hendrix
