Bio

“Just wait until I open up my eyes......."

The self fulfilling prophecy of Smuggling Molasses rings true as they make their debut into the Chicago music scene with nothing to lose and everything to say. Influenced by the Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, the Cure, Wilco, and the Pixies, the band's music consists of unrelenting guitars, pounding drums, and inventive vocals. Smuggling Molasses pulls it together with perfect harmony, and melodic grandeur.

The band was formed by childhood friends Don Hauser (Vocals/guitar) and Noriel Gomez (lead guitar). They took their many basement sessions
and came up with many interesting and eclectic pieces of music, and even performed at some local bars with this material. Both realizing something was missing, they started their pursuit to find percussions that would bring the music to life. Enter Dave Marquez, a co-worker of Don. Dave's dedication was intense and loyal to both Don and Noriel which breathed a different kind of life into the music. A few short months later, the three members found the low end sound they so definitely needed. This sound was coming from a bass guitar that belonged to Dave Zambrano.
Now the chemistry is supreme and all the ideas and thoughts that all the members had in their heads for years are finally put into motion.

Smuggling Molasses has a five song ep out entitled "Thirteen days till the end of the world". Currently the band is working to expose their stylings to music lovers all over Chicago, and will make sure that their voice does not go unheard.
