Biography

More hooks than a tackle box. A manic rhythm like a steamroller. A smokescreen of visceral guitar licks and disjointed memoirs dwelling on the brilliance of luscious insanity and surviving the tightrope of way too much, skating over puddles of spilt milk and urban decay on a good day. Way too much. They've got glitter for the girls and guitars for the guys. Smyer will be your girlfriend's favorite rock band.

Brian and Gordon started playing together in a band in Austin, Texas called the Ampersandersons, but Gordon soon realized that he was not a very good drummer and then other members moved away, and Brian and Gordon both moved to Los Angeles. In LA they recruited their friend Kirby Smith, and met another fellow Texan Jeph Duarte who played drums and started gigging as Smyer. After getting sick of Los Angeles, Brian, Gordon, and Jeph all left LA and without planning all ended up in Brooklyn where they recruited Gabe Berezin, a great guitarist and songwriter from the band Monuments, to play the bass. They have just finished their first full-length album, Crooked Tigers, and are currently working on new material for a 2008 release.
