"Snappy Catchphrases nearly unite!"

Three Quarters of the Snappy Catchphrases combined to deliver a 4 song powerhouse set at the Blue Moon, in the beautiful Toronto neighborhood of Riverdale. That's right, just the first block East of Broadview on Queen St. East lies the venerable portal which provides entrance to this up and coming venue. The setting of the island bar up front, the pool tables in the middle and the great jam space in the rear encouraged all participants in the Sounds of Riverdale open mike session, hosted by the Riverdale BIA, to let it all hang loose in a parade of talent. The highlight of the evening was seeing my buddies the Snappy Catchphrases play four songs - All Over Again (reggae tinged school nostalgia), Moving On (folksy rock with a dour message), Hard Times (really reggae-ish with an environmental and anti war message) and 28 Years (a topical out of work song in a rock vein). Missing temporarily from action was Kash, but Corey, Rob and Phil were all onstage making the good noise. The sound guy let me know the Thursday night open mike nights are ongoing, and he welcomes any players to come by from say 9pm onward. This reviewer recommends all music lovers keep their calendars open for these eclectic and engaging shows as well, and make sure to ask about the Snappy Catchphrases when you get there! - flyer stapled to message board
