Biography

Snow Picnic is the recording name for Gordon Huntley: producer, musician and composer. This Halifax native's interest in electronic music was piqued while experimenting with software, taking cues from pioneers such as Kraftwerk and Brian Eno. At Dalhousie University he studied audio engineering and electronic composition techniques, and his hobby shifted into a full on obsessive-compulsive need to hone his craft. During his university studies Gordon received a digital copy of a disco DJ's vintage vinyl library, inspiring him to shift his musical focus to the pop sensibilities of electronic dance music.

Snow Picnic's work is the sound of accessible yet economically technical pop; intricately composed yet four-on-the-floor; an intuitive amalgam of house, disco and electro converged into something altogether different.
