Bio

One year ago Snuff Sugar was formed in New Orleans when guitarist Alex Price and drummer Dustin DiSalvo decided to bring their passion for music together to form a band. Writing songs and getting a feel for each other’s styles they decided to add bass. They didn’t have to go far because Dustin’s brother is a local artist known as DJMC Microphone. Having done a two-year educational stint in Lafayette after Katrina, DJMC Microphone was eager to work with his brother on the promising project.

The band instantly clicked, being able to mix each member’s eclectic influences, thus molding their sound into a dynamic and diverse range of elements from blues and metal to grunge and folk with an insane twitch of jazz and funk. All this for the sake of finding a way to comfortably mix contrasting moods and find the source of their muse.

Their first three months was a fast paced rush to create songs due to the fact that shortly after forming Snuff Sugar, the band was featured in a national documentary called Dream because of Alex’s recognition as an aspiring musician and talented guitarist. They soon landed gigs with a positive turn out and were granted a spot on the locally revered and nationally recognized Voodoo Festival.

Afterwards the band decided to slow it down and let the songs simmer as they forged new ideas and began to think about recording an album. During this time Alex performed their new creations acoustically and the band experimented live, playing as a live band for hip-hop shows. Their debut album Snuff Sugar is set to be recorded by Rick Naiser at Festival Recordings this fall to be released this winter.

As far as the name goes it was either Snuff Sugar or Sweet and Sour what would you choose?
