"Social Change may yet be the finest talent to break from Adelaide"

Social Change may yet be the finest talent to break from Adelaide... One of the most ear and indeed eye-catching aspects of Social Change's music is the live performance. A live Social Change set features Funkwig freewheeling on the MPC while DJ Snair lets loose on the decks, the live jam aspect is clearly important...With the Australian scene booming the scene is definitely ready for artists who are a little different. - Onion Magazine

"Arguably the finest EP released in Australia"

Social Change is an emcee who you may not have heard of a lot if you live outside of Adelaide. Truth be told many residing in Adelaide itself may be sleeping on one of the scene's best talents. All that is about to change in a big way, with arguably the finest EP released in Australia under his belt and an LP that should see him finally recognised as one of Australia's best emcees just about ready. - Peak Street

"Adelaide keeps bringing on the quality Hip Hop and this crew do it in style"

Three lads who've been kicking around the Adelaide music scene for years, but have only recently come together to make some quality Hip Hop with passionate lyrics and super tight beats... Adelaide keeps bringing on the quality Hip Hop and this crew do it in style. - Triple J

"Australia's next big thing"

...this phenomenon known as Social Change... Australia's next big thing. - Acclaim Magazine

"Social Change is the brightest star-in-waiting our scene currently has"

With Funkwig on the MPC and DJ Snair on the cuts, it's most definitely a three way attack on stage, with each member working well off the other and lifting the performance to another level... All I have to say is, wow, Australia better make this man a star or there is something seriously wrong with the music industry. - InTheMix.com.au

"This release is not only for hip-hop fans, but for everyone."

"V.High.EP" is an arrestingly, chillingly good CD... It's a genuinely bright, fun, and intelligent record on which "Social Change" does everything right, from cold, hardcore rhymes over uncomplicated soulful beats to mesmerising rap. These songs, written and delivered by artificers in command of every aspect of their craft have an addictive quality... Social Change is smart, but not too clever for its own good. "V.High. EP" is a forthright hook-filled CD that's brimming with confidence. This release is not only for hip-hop fans, but for everyone. - MusicSA.com.au

"Someone who I think has the ability to blow the game apart"

The V.High.EP is a perfect preview to someone who I think has the ability to blow the game apart. This is good music with an accessible message... make sure you check out the live show with DJ Snair and Funkwig behind the MPC. Best Tracks: The whole friggin’ thing. - OzHipHop.com

Bio

With a distinct brand of heavy duty production, razor sharp turntablism and authoritative lyrics, Hip Hop group Social Change makes true music with universal appeal. Having honed their skills for over a decade, Social Change defines dedication to their art. Specialists in their respective fields, emcee Social Change and producer Funkwig met in 1990 and by 1995, with a common interest in classic Hip Hop, they were making their own tunes together.

In 1998 these Hip Hop stalwarts who had grown up on a healthy dose of Public Enemy and Rhyme Syndicate decided to make their own contribution to Australian Hip Hop. They burst onto the local scene in Adelaide with a self titled E.P, featured on radio, played gigs with the likes of Phat Albert, Hilltop Hoods, Dogbouy and Crossbred Mongrels, supported international acts Mystic Journeymen and Living Legends and won freestyle competition "Vocal Lords". Social Change then went on to play the live gig circuit around Adelaide with their band The Funk Movement.

In the years that followed they supported Australian artists such as Brothers Stoney, Quro, Koolism, and Mnemonic Ascent and also featured at shows by Jurassic 5 and Grandmaster Flash (USA). Funkwig made a name for himself producing for various well known Australian artists (Lazy Grey, Hilltop Hoods, Resin Dogs, Delta and The Herd to name only a few) while also releasing his production album "F&d - Worship the Grit" to national acclaim. The album featured Social Change, and it was around this time that the duo began working with champion DJ Snair who had been making waves in the DMC and ITF tournaments, representing South Australia numerous times at the national level.

The trio began recording together in 2005 and by the end of 2007 they released their critically acclaimed E.P titled “V.High.E.P”. On the strength of this E.P the group toured the East-Coast of Australia and earnt support slots for Kool Keith (USA), Paris (USA), Jehst (UK) and Australian pioneers Def Wish Cast (NSW). In 2008 they released their classic internet single “REAL” and video for underground favourite “Lifted”. They were selected as Triple J Unearthed feature artists and their songs picked up by commercial and community radio alike.

They have gone on to play shows Australia-wide, support numerous Australian and International acts, and headline and host events both locally and interstate. Social Change has recently put out the "Double Banger" promotional CD which features new tracks "Black Text" and "Putting in Work" from the upcoming album, and they have just released the Fat Pockets "Butterthief Phat Tape" which features two new Social Change songs plus exclusive verses, production and cuts. All eyes and ears are firmly on Social Change now as they prepare to release their full length album titled "V.High.P".
