Social Focus

Chicago’s Social Focus formed in early 2010 when long time bandmates Ben McMunn, Matt Garza, Brian Kipp, and Matt Feddermann were looking for a voice to fit the textured, colorful music they were creating. They tried out a couple singers, some from the states, some from Russian mail order catalogs. When no one met their ridiculously high standards, Matt Feddermann, going against everything he believed in, posted an ad online for a “Classy, Alluring, Not Ugly” Lead Singer. Answering the call was Adam Hendrickson, who, with his own crazy ideas on what music should be, fit right in with the group. Held up at Feddermann’s “Phase Recording Studios,” the band soon began working on a handful of songs that would become their debut EP. Their sound has been described (by themselves) as “Insanely awesome, groove driven rock with soaring, crashing guitars and haunting vocals.”

After months of scotch and beer induced “discussions” about what to call the band, they finally agreed on, Social Focus.
