"Norman Music Gets More Kaotic"

Norman music gets more Kaotic

Local band Kaos (Sodder) could not have picked a more ill-fitting name.
Rather, this band as a whole is the antithesis of chaos. They play not as a drummer, guitarist, bassist, and singer, but as one entity with finely honed and well-orchestrated tunes that drive audiences to tap their feet and move their bodies in sync to the music.
Despite this, when choosing their band's name while forming two years ago, lead singer Jennifer Newton said the word just seemed to fit their music.
"It fits our music and us at the same time because we play such a variety of music," said Newton, business senior. "It's just chaotic."
Although the group has performed in venues around Oklahoma City, the group made its Norman debut Friday night at Brother's Eatery and Pub on Campus Corner.
With many students looking for entertainment on a non-football weekend, Kaos was the ticket.
Combining elements of rock, blues, funk and jazz, the group pays homage to the roots of rock itself; essential rock.
Backed by an equally impressive presence in the rest of the band, Jennifer's wide-ranging voice captured Brothers' audience.
Her range was only exceeded by the soul coming from her lyrics.
The group's eclectic guitarist, D.B., had a habit of mixing up genres, while playing not on stage, but rather in the audience grabbing beer bottles to use as impromptu slides for his more bluesy riffs. Bassist Brad McGuire is also equally likely to jump off stage in his excitement.
Drummer for the band and brother to Jennifer, Brian Newton is also an important part of the band.
"Brian literally drives this band, that's why we keep him in the back."
Already having won Internet station New Artist Radio's Best Upcoming Rock and Alternative Band of the Year, Brian said the band plans to go where it takes them.

Sodder

The delivery comes at a fast paced frenzy with this high energy group of musicians.
With Jennifer's powerful vocals and Sodder's metal laden guitar riffs over the heart pounding bass lines, this bunch appears to be on their way to rake in some adoring fans of their eclectic musical style.
Reminiscent of No Doubt and the Chilli Peppers this band had me bopping and grooving with the wave of feel good sounds they emanate.
With such a vast array of talent one expects to see more of this group as they hone their sounds and skillset to incorporate more of their own musical uniqueness. An all around good listen!

"PanArtist Review"

London (Colin) - Imagine a crossbreed between The Police and Led Zeppelin but with a female singer. Thats more Sodder than less hailing all the way from the Mid West of the USA. Solid still with improving production for future projects; but full rock potential in their veins. Without a doubt, They are the rulers of their own musical destiny. - Colin

Bio

Formed in January of 2001 under the name of Kaos, Sodder entered the Rock scene just as every other aspiring artist...broke with limited direction. With a business major and perfectionist as a lead singer, it didn't take long for a plan to formulate with tributaries of duties asigned to each individual along with a model of operations in regards to equipment, transportation, and finance. From the beginning, Sodder was operated as a business with each individual band member putting their earnings back into the band which led to the purchase of a full PA, a van and trailer for transportation, and all fuel costs and merchandise costs to be fully covered by the band's finances. Musical direction was sporatic in the first few years with such a gathering of musicians with vast musical influences. Influences that ranged from the blues to heavy metal weaved a web of eclectic songs that varied greatly from one another and at the same time kept Sodder from being confined into any specific genre. Growth and experience ensued in the following years as direction began to enter the scene in the relm of writing. New members were added and in 2009 a more defined product was being birthed from the creative juices of Sodder that could finally put them in a mold created by the Rock forefathers. Entering into a steady concoction of writing in a specific direction led to being noticed by Glight A&R. In early 2010, Sodder entered into a one (1) year development deal with Glight and Fidelity Entertainment. This gathering spawned the release of a new single ("Last Day") which propelled recognition of Sodder throughout Oklahoma. Sodder's first EP was released January 1, 2011 and the full length album was released in September of 2011. With more than 10 years of hard work and a wealth of live experience, Sodder has been working the rock scene steadily over the years and has earned their place in the industry with a steadily growing and loyal fan base. With fans showing up to live gigs to show off their new tatoos of the Sodder symbol, the band can safely say that a good portion of their fans are just ... freakin' awesome. Sodder's show has steadily built over the years and has propelled them across Oklahoma and Texas with a huge live sound and ever growing light show. Always entertaining, always Rockin' ... World domination is inevitable!
