Bio

SOLARCADE is a pop rock band formed by South African vocalist Paul Van, and Texan guitarist Tony Pomilla. The two met while playing in other projects and quickly found magnetism in their songwriting. They have been the buzz of the underground indie scene since releasing their self produced debut, Aliens and Angels in 2005. Pomilla insists the epic rock sound of their upcoming album — which has echoes of superstar bands — is what they have been aiming to achieve from day one.

There is a storied tradition of big-name, stadium-filling rock acts plucking a critical darling up from the minor leagues to open their shows. It's a win-win, of course: the big guys score some artistic credit, while the smaller guys gain some much-needed exposure. The tradition ultimately continued when SOLARCADE caught the attention of multi-platinum selling act The Killers in 2007. The band’s frontman, Brandon Flowers, heard demos from Solarcade’s sophomore release, This Beautiful Demon and quickly recruited them as support on their US Arena Tour.

After signing with indie label A&I Records, SOLARCADE enlisted veteran producer Brian Reeves (U2, Rooney, Jonas Brothers) for their third album, Songs for the Gathering to work in unison
to expose and produce something unique. While in the studio finishing up the album, SOLARCADE opened up for Puddle of Mudd, The Airborne Toxic Event, Louis XIV, and The Electric Touch. Their new album, Songs for the Gathering will be released digitally in February, featuring lead-off single, “Rise.” The single has already received support from indie stations, including a recent add to regular rotation on Intensely Modern Radio on Live 365. The single will also be featured in new indie film, “The Things We Carry”.
