Solardip is more than just a band. They create a standing and a radical gathering, offering something a little wild, a little trash. As one of Istanbul's favorite Electro-Indie bands, Solardip is gaining steady momentum.

Who is Solardip?
Yigit: We are three young people, born and raised in Istanbul. We make music.
Duygu: Solardip is not just the band, now it's a standing - a little wild, a little trash.
Emir: Solardip is now a radical gathering. A fear of manipulation, a shallow entertainment and the power of cheap tricks. Solardip gains its power from the infamous lightning branding and together, we forget all our problems, greed, money and focus on brutality.. Brutality on mind without the technique, without any question mark and elitism. Pure entertainment.

Your debut is about to be released. How does it sound?
Emir: A heavier sound, more vibrant and raw. We've changed and put our emotional sequence into this as the playlist grows on. It is wilder than before, and more 'rock'. We hope that listeners will feel the indie taste in electro and bang the floor. We wanted you to feel like, you would sometimes destroy your MP3 player by throwing and kicking it.
Duygu: Just like he said, a wilder sound! And our first single ‘Dance Like Wolves’ comes in with a sexy video directed by our friend Cihan Alpgiray.
Yigit: In addition to five new tracks, we remixed five of our old songs and they somehow turned out to be even greater, as if they are totally new songs!

Do you have any bizzare live performance memories?
Duygu: Actually I remember one. That guy after our gig in Amsterdam, he jumped into the backstage, put an MP3 player in my hand, saying "We want you to sing with us, please?!" In the morning I put on the earphones; that MP3 player included their songs, all HEAVY METAL - with brutal vocals. Right into the trash!

What do you think about the underground music scene in Istanbul?
Emir: Istanbul consumes really fast. It is pretty hard to do a sustainable project because of the dynamics of the city. This is the year 2011, and we still face with a crowd who has a very irrational, locational based approach towards the music and musical acts they will listen to. But this will be over very soon, hopefully.

What are some of the new sounds coming out in Istanbul?
Yigit: There are some significant examples in the genres IDM, glitch, instrumental, hip-hop, electro-pop, nu jazz, chillwave, new wave and drone, all of which were claimed to be impossible to be practiced by Turkish musicians just until a few years ago. Especially for some specific genres, you'll see that this number will rise in the near future, and these musician will turn out to be more visionary, bold, brave and unique. They no longer standardized with the norms of Turkey.

What are the three main facts that define the nightlife of Istanbul?
Yigit: First of all, night is not the sequel of day in Istanbul. The nights here are pretty long, without any sleep. Second, anything may happen on night in Istanbul. And last but not least, most nights in Istanbul end with food -above 500 calories.
Duygu: Agreed, if you go out at night, no chances coming home before the sun.
Emir: Who wants to come home before dawn?

Your favorite performance venues and clubs in which to both and hang out in Istanbul?
Duygu: Places like Babylon, IKSV Salon, Ghetto are the best for live gigs
Emir: For DJ performances, Otto and Skandal! are pretty nice. - VICE Magazine
