"Honorable Mentions for Spring Indie Feature"

With the submission from Justin Street – now known as Solar Spectrum, I received a specific request for feedback should he not be selected for the feature. The immediate question upon hearing his music was, “Is it a bad thing to sound so much like another artist?” because the comparisons to Jimi Hendrix stood out like a pink elephant in a room full of sober hippies. His band has been gigging and writing music for the first EP for three years, and though the electronic press kit didn’t lead me to choose the band for a feature, I don’t feel it should be passed-by. Bio

Justin Street is the baddest funky guitar demi-god on the planet. If you haven't heard of him, it is only because he is Detroit's best kept secret. Justin isn't a throw back, he is an original. There is no one quite like him, and certainly nothing like his music available on any record at present. Justin wastes no breath with his words; his lyrics are constructed as messages for positive change. He is an anomaly in our digital age.

Justin hails from the rough streets of Detroit, MI. You can hear it in his playing. He grew up with Eminem's brother in the shadows of Motown.

After gigging extensively in Boston for three years, Justin Street and guitarist Jamie Garry decided it was time to solidify a line up and cut a record to meet demands of the developed fan base.

The band will be moving to Cincinnati, OH for the summer of 2012, to expand their fan base and influence. A couple of influential local Cincinnati musicians have already taken note of Justin Street, and eagerly await the band's arrival to the local scene. (Members of Wussy, Afghan Whigs, The Cla-Zels, and Fists of Love)
