The best kept secret in music

Still working on that hot first release.

Solid State Disaster is the brainchild of songwriter and musician, Heath Aldrich.  After about a four year hiatus from music, due to buying a small picture framing business in 2010, which demanded most of his time, and all of his creativity.  Heath found his love of writing music again in the most peculiar of places, in his original 1989 Nintendo Game Boy.  "The sounds come so naturally to me." Heath would often explain to confused onlookers.  Using the limitations of the hardware that he modded himself, Heath set course to explore soundscapes less traveled, even by the chipmusic community.  The main goal of Solid State Disaster is to write songs that conform some sort of pop music structure, but using lofi synthesizer sounds, bitcrushed vocals, and a lot of emotion and soul.  Nostalgia is the first thing that comes to everyone's mind when they think of retro hardware, but the songs of Solid State Disaster are constantly challenging you on what you would consider nostalgia.  Sure, it might have some sounds that are completely unique to the Game Boy, or Commodore 64, but the goal is to not rely too heavily on the nostalgic bones in us all.  Heath would say to his musician contemporaries who would question his sanity for trying his art in this extremely difficult medium, "I want these songs to stand on their own, and not fall into a kitsch, niche category.  I want this to be an entirely new experience for everyone involved."  While the road maybe hard in this budding genre of music, Heath is completely ready to be a pioneer for his art, and hopes that you will follow with him.
