Solid Gold Workout

Solid Gold Workout is an emerging band from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. In April 2009 two members of the disbanded Mystery System, Bruce Rooney and Matt MacKinnon joined forces with Josh Carter, Evan McCosham and Kevin MacKay and since then have been writing and delivering to audiences lively disco beats and mind stretching synth leads over dance-happy lyrics and rock driven guitar. The group has recently recorded their first single, 'Downtown'. Since their formation, Solid Gold Workout have opened for Charlottetown bands The Sidewalks and ECMA winning Paper Lions and have recently begun headlining shows at local venues, including an upcoming gig at Baba's Lounge, recently voted one of the top ten live music clubs in Canada by CBC Radio 3. 'Downtown' was also featured in a recent set by Marc 'DJ Bones' LeBlanc, a prominent maritime DJ. Upcoming goals for the band include recording an EP and to broaden their territory, playing shows around the maritimes and eventually beyond. Being a member of Solid Gold Workout means being prepared to entertain the high energy crowds at their equally high energy shows. If you attend a Solid Gold Workout show, you are likely to see festoons of gold balloons, 'gold' inspired costumes, or raunchy eighties workout outfits, complete with more spandex than Richard Simmons could shake a stick at.
