CD Review by Emmy Award winning TV Producer Bette Hanson

'Patience & Time' combines straightforward lyrics and rich melodies, immersed in the quiet confidence of an emerging artist pursuing his life's passion. Sol Knopf creates a style all his own with real life experiences wrapped in elements of country, soul, pop and rock.

The Knopf style is represented by his gift for knowing when and how to use strong, varied rhythms and inventive structures. His focus is evident in everything from complex arrangements to simple melodies in a range of original songs demonstrating his seasoned talent as a producer, musician, singer and songwriter. The compositions themselves paint musical tales of the arc of human experience filled with inspiration (Good Love Takes Time), satire (Chocolate Song), heartfelt emotion (Searching For You, You Were The One), and joy (Wrapped Around My Heart); as much as of a life tainted by struggle, sorrow and disappointment (Midnight Ride, Where Have You Been & Dancin' With The Bottle).

You Were the One is a standout capturing the essence of 'youthful love lost' with masterful artistry in its sheer simplicity. Here, less IS more as Sol's voice acts as a separate instrument, communicating the honesty and vulnerability in lyrics like "wanting you so bad and knowing I'll never get you back" complimented by the strength of a plaintive and pleading piano melody.

Overall, it's a compelling glimpse into the evolution of an artist who's uniquely his own. I for one can't wait to see what he does next.

Searching For You

Written By: Sol Knopf

If I could make one wish
I’d wish that you still loved me
I’d wish I had been the man that you wanted me to be
But I gave you everything that I had
And still ended up with a good love gone bad
Now here I am in search of another
In search of another

But I’ll be searching for you in every woman see
Searching for you ‘till eternity
For someone with your eyes
The kind that hypnotize and sparkle so blue
But tell me how can I find someone else
If I’m searching for you?

I’ve heard it said before
There’s someone for everyone
But what do you do if your someone’s been taken?
Don’t tell me ‘bout all those fish in the sea
Tell me there’s someone like you left for me
And if there is, you know where I’ll be
You know where I’ll be….

I’ll be searching for you in every woman I see
Searching for the you that you used to be
When your smile was so bright,
Same shine, different light,
And your heart was still true.
But tell me how can I find someone else
If I’m searching for you?

I’ve been searching for you in every woman I see
Searching for you but now it’s clear to me
That it’s time to let go ‘cause I’ll just never know if another will do
So I’ll say goodbye to the love that we knew
Hello to a change overdue
‘Cause I’ll surely never find anyone else
If I’m searching for you.

Where Have You Been?

Where Have You Been ?
Words & Music by: Sol Knopf c 2007

Where have you been all my life
When I was cold and needed arms to hold me tight
To keep me warm to make things right
When life went wrong

Where have you been all my life
When I struggled just to make it through the night
Without touch…without love…without you.

Misty mornings came and went without you
A lifetime’s come and gone without you here
But like a precious gift from heaven sent to save me
You came into my life and made things clear
But where have you been? Where have you been?

The Chocolate Song

The Chocolate Song
c2007 Words & Music by Sol Knopf

“Step away from the table” he heard the voice say
With his feet on the ground he began to pray
Thought he heard a gun cock …wondered if this was it
Never thought his precious day would be ending like this.

And as he saw his whole life flash before his eyes
A hard luck story with a tragic demise
How did it ever spiral into this mess?
Would the obituary say anything to impress?

So take your hands out of your pockets and move ‘em slow
What your holdin’ just you drop it … don’t you know
That I mean business with what I say
Or with your life you’re gonna pay

In the background the TV was blastin the news
Keep your eyes on the lookout a devil’s on the loose
But the voice in his ear sounded somewhat the same
As the woman who he married and her name was Jane.

But the tone was kinda low and it sounded possessed
Like a wolf on a mission…but wearin’ a dress
Afraid to turn and look his killer in the eye
He squeezed his eyes shut and prepared to die!

So take your hands out of your pockets and move ‘em slow
What your holdin’ just you drop thought I told you so….
But I guess that you forgot it….
DON’T EVER MESS WITH A WOMAN’S CHOCOLATE!

So take your hands out of your pockets and move ‘em slow
Don’t you mess with a woman’s chocolate
Thought I told you so
But I guess that you forgot it Babe
DON’T EVER MESS WITH A WOMAN’S CHOCOLATE!

Midnight Ride

Written By: Sol Knopf & Greg Gantzer

Midnight Ride
C2007 Sol Knopf & Greg Gantzer

He’s got his foot on you with the pedal to the metal
Layin’ off the clutch so you’re gonna have to settle
With his hands on you like a steering wheel
Drivin’ so fast gonna make you squeal

And you don’t even know that he’s really bound to go

On a midnight ride… to nowhere… he’s goin’ nowhere
Takin’ you on a midnight ride…to nowhere…he’s goin nowhere
Takin’ you on a midnight ride.

Well it’s a road you’ve traveled many times before
You’re just a poor old sucker comin’ back for more
A junkyard Jenny in a passenger seat
And you’re runnin outa gas baby ain’t that sweet…

And you may think you’re bold
But it’s going to get cold

On a midnight ride… to nowhere… he’s goin’ nowhere
Takin’ you on a midnight ride…to nowhere…he’s goin nowhere
Takin’ you on a midnight ride.

Well you heard your Momma’s voice
But you had to make your own choice
Now your feelin’ like fool far from home
On a midnight ride

Now there’s a light up ahead and it’s shinin’ on you
It’s like a ray of reason…what you gonna do?
You get control of this car and pull it off the track
Put your feet on the black top and never look back

And as he’s screamin’ out your name
You know you’ll never go again

On a midnight ride… to nowhere… he’s goin’ nowhere
Takin’ you on a midnight ride…to nowhere…he’s goin nowhere
Takin’ you on a midnight ride.

Dancing With The Bottle

Dancing with the Bottle
By: Craig Stonesifer and Sol Knopf c 2007

Our favorite song was playing on the jukebox
The one we danced to down the line
We used to groove so close together
But since she’s gone I guess I’ll have to keep time

Chorus
Dancin’ Dancin’ with the bottle
I’m two stepping with her memory tonight
And it’s a lonely dance for a broken hearted man
It’s a lift of the glass that doesn’t take a steady hand
Yeah I’m dancin’ dancin’ with the bottle

Now every man should know
The simple twist of the wrist and the elbow
Because when things get to be the worst
I’ll tell ya Mister you can work up a hell of a thirst

Chorus
So I’m dancin’ dancin’ with the bottle
A slow fandango under a neon light
I’m a winnin’ waltzer who’s tired of this slow dance
I need to call her if I’m gonna stand half a chance
But I can’t stop dancin’ dancin’ with the bottle

After all the times we’ve danced together
I can’t believe we’ll never get the steps right.

Chorus
So I’m dancin’ dancin’ with the bottle
Yeah I’m shufflin’ and my next partners on ice
I’ll be doing the same thing tomorrow
If my call falls on deaf ears tonight
I’ll be dancin’ dancin’ with the bottle.

Good Love Takes Time

Good Love Takes Time
Words & Music by: Sol Knopf c2007

I believe in destiny
With a little help from you and me
And that patience is the key
To unlock the door to love’s longevity

How do lover’s stay in love forever
At a time when people break up every day?

I’m tellin’ you
Good love takes time
Good love’s like a fine wine
Life ain’t no race to see who wins
It’s no chase to the finish line
And good love takes time

Sometimes fights will get you down
Sometimes love just can’t be found
When stubborn hearts are all around
There just ain’t no middle ground

But what I’ve found is every day’s a new day
To make life better than before

I’m tellin’ you
Good love takes time
Good love’s like a fine wine
Life ain’t no race to see who wins
It’s no chase to the finish line
And good love takes time

Now I ain’t sayin’ that you should never quit
No…no….there’s plenty reasons to do that
But just be sure before you give up too quick
That you’ve done all that you can do
To be among the precious few
Who keep it goin’ when the storm is through

You Were The One

You Were The One
c2007 Words and Music by Sol Knopf

Somewhere tonight our love has lost its way
And I am the one who’s left alone.
Somehow I knew
Things would come down to you.
You were the one, you were the one.

I gave you my heart but time has taken it’s toll.
All those years was it true love?
I wish I knew what was going on inside of you.
You were the one, you were the one.

Lost through the window
Of a stormy lullabye
Wanting you so bad
And knowing I’ll never get you back

I want you to know
That I will always love you
There’s a place in my soul that’s truly yours
I wish I knew if you felt the same way too
You were the one, You were the one

Wrapped Around My Heart

Wrapped Around My Heart
c2007 Words and Music by Sol Knopf

I’m in a brand new world
Since this gorgeous girl
Took a hold on me
And now she’s all I need

It’s like a vine that winds
Through the essence of my soul
And it feeds on my desire
Consumes me as it grows
She’s wrapped around my heart
Got control of me
And I never wanna be set free
Cause she takes me to a place I’ve never been before

She’s wrapped around my heart
She’s got a hold on me.

It’s got so I can’t see
The forest for the trees
But I don’t really care
And I don’t even dare

Like a vine that winds
Through the essence of my soul
And it feeds on my desire
Consumes me as it grows
She’s wrapped around my heart
Got control of me
And I never wanna be set free
Cause she takes me to a place I’ve never been before

She’s wrapped around my heart
She’s got a hold on me
She’s wrapped around my heart
She’s in control….

Love is What You Make It

Love is What You Make It
c 2007 Sol Knopf and Dave Simmons

She’s afraid that you will hurt her to the core.
Just like the last one did and the one that did before.
She’s been put down, beat down ‘till her heart is insecure.
And you’re bound for a turn around …baby that’s for sure.

Do you know who you are?
Do you know what you want?

Love is what you make it.
It’s a reflection of you.
Love is what you give it.
And it’s coming on through.
Love is what you make it.

In order to love someone you’ve got to love yourself.
But how do you love yourself when you really just can’t tell
What’s good for you, what’s bad….with or without help.
Being blind inside is like a victim’s hell.
