Solo G Biography

Kevin Pottinger professionally known as “Solo G” was born November 5th, 1980 in Brooklyn, NY. The youngest male raised by a single mother in an all female household was easily made the man of the house, that role at an early age taught him leadership, and the importance of loyalty. He feels that “Loyalty is Everything”; in other words if you don’t have that nothing else matters. In 1986 six year old Solo G experienced his first tragedy when he found a dead body on the second floor of his apartment complex in Brooklyn. The young man frightened, and in shock ran to his mother ,whom later decided it was time to move out of the ghetto; as a result, he and his family all moved to Orlando, FL
The Hip Hop/Rap artist began his journey towards music in the early year of 1995 at the age of 15. Solo G’s incentive for loving music came from watching and understanding the movements of the No Limit Soldiers, Tupac and Deathrow, and Cash Money Millionaires. With that being said, listening to Tupac is what really made Solo G want to know more about the music industry. However, it took the loss of his childhood sweetheart, who was shot and killed while she was 6 months pregnant, to write his first original song called “The Lord Is Raising My Baby”. It was that fatal event that led him to the conclusion that life is short, which in return made him put his dream of becoming an artist into full pursuit. He developed an aggressive gangsta rap style filled with rapid rhymes, and real life lyrics that matched a voice which helped express life in the streets. At 16 Solo G took his creative gift more serious as he began to compete in freestyle battles which led to him being recruited by “Newt” an associate of the Mega DJ’s/Jam Pony Express to join a group called Bad Realigion. At that time, the group was more like a Hip Hop boot camp from which he learned the music game from his band mates; not to mention, how much attention the Mega DJ’s/Jam Pony Express was receiving at the time. During this era Solo G met his lifelong best friend “Projectz Pimp” who he created a popular song called “MD” with soon after. The song was a hit as 1000’s of copies flooded the streets and sold for $10 per unit.
The endeavor towards music continued; however, Solo G turned more towards living life in the streets and the unsuccessful fight to stay out of jail. He fell deeper into the drug game and lost sight of his dream, but having friends like “Projectz Pimp” helping him through the tough time, he was able to turn it all around get back in the studio once again. With a clear mind he purchased real recording equipment and built C.R.E. Studios where he recorded, mixed and mastered the first official project along with the “Projectz Pimp” called “Criminal Ridaz Vol. 1” in January of 2010. The mixtape also featured Trigga, Hustla, and A.K. who helped brand the company C.R.E.,LLC (Criminal Ridaz Entertainment, LLC) and represented what its experienced leader CEO “Solo G” stood for. The C.R.E. movement only grew more as the company endorsed the Glut-Tony Family, Lady Dutchess, Moonjuice, Da Thrilla, Mz Renegade, and The Decepticonvictz. C.R.E. and Solo G began getting booked and rocking shows like “Miss Priss Presents Industry Mondays” as well as winning the “DMB Award” and “The Streetcrumbs Showcase” which lead to actually opening up for major artist like Young Jeezy and Gucci Mane performing in front of 1000’s. Being the head of a movement which he believes will be the next powerhouse label, Solo G’s entrepreneurial mind pushes him towards success as an artist, business man, and CEO. As his fans await the release of “Original Criminal Rida” what Solo G Believes will be “a very inspiring piece of work”, C.R.E. continues to strive for success.
