"Doug Anthony is an amazing musician!"

Doug Anthony is an amazing musician! I would highly recommend that you consider him to play during your wedding ceremony and reception. Doug worked with us on music selection and was instrumental in making our wedding day even better than we had anticipated - and that's tough to do!

We also asked Doug to help us with someone to sing during both the ceremony and reception and he delivered an outstanding fellow artist - Andy Boutot! Andy was also very accommodating and helpful with music selection and timing.

We received numerous comments both during and after our wedding reception about what a wonderful job both Doug and Andy did. A number of our wedding attendees asked for their contact information so that they could book them for other events.

We would highly recommend you consider Doug and Andy for your wedding or other event. - Wedding Wire

"It was a genuine pleasure to work with Doug Anthony"

It was a genuine pleasure to work with Doug Anthony. Not only was he prompt and professional in all our dealings but his talent on the guitar is truly amazing. He provided the beautiful music for our wedding ceremony at Green Pastures which added the perfect ambiance of what we hoped to capture on our special day. He even worked with us on a special song that was not in his regular repertoire. I cannot thank Doug enough for making our day even more exceptional! - Wedding Wire

Bio

Doug started playing guitar at age 14 in Corpus Christi, Texas. His first interest was of course rock and roll. Listening to 70s and early 80s rock bands he learned all he could until he was introduced to the blues. At age 19 he attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi where he studied with Chester Rupe, a seasoned veteran of jazz and an outstanding guitarist. Rupe had a big influence on Doug as well as many other musicians that hailed from Corpus. Through that connection Doug met and performed with local musicians where he was exposed to other styles of music such as R&B and Tejano. When he turned 21 he started experimenting with other instruments such as harmonica and saxophone which he played in local blues bands.

In 1989 Doug moved to Austin to expand his musical environment. With the huge variety of music Austin had to offer he continued to learn new genres of music and new instruments to play. Bass is one of those instruments that he quickly learned to master playing in jazz, funk, rock, world and country bands where he honed his skills learning from some of Austin's finest musicians.
