TUSTIN – Fifteen teams raised some $20,000 during the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay For Life of Tustin.
The relay was from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Currie Middle School, with the theme “Picnic in the Park.”
The day started with an opening ceremony and Survivors’ Relay Lap before caregivers and other teammates joined in. Next, there was a free breakfast for survivors catered by Benji’s of Tustin in a tent that was open all day for survivors to gather, get gifts and be pampered.
As participants walked on the school’s track, guests enjoyed live music, food, speeches and activities.
A Luminaria ceremony took place at 8 p.m. Several hundred decorated bags lining the track spelled out “hope” in the middle of the field, all dedicated to survivors, caretakers or those who have lost their battle to cancer. The field lights were turned off and the bags illuminated while speakers shared stories and participants walked in quiet remembrance. - The Orange County Register

Sol Pacifica is a Latin Pop Rock/Afro Pop band from Los Angeles California. Founded in 2014 by Youtube Personality Gabriela Banuelos and Singer/Songwriter Rob Jimenez the band released its debut EP in October of 2015. Sol Pacifica began as a Youtube music collaboration between Banuelos and Jimenez which consisted mostly of producing music videos for Youtube of the duo covering popular songs. Its wasn't long before they moved onto writing original music and quickly recruited Richard Nuno on drums and Chris Torrez on bass to fill out their sound, officially forming Sol Pacifica. The band started uploading original music videos on Youtube to favorable reviews and were able to build a formidable following in a relatively short amount of time. The music that resulted is a refection of the band's Latin American upbringings. All members are U.S. born and raised, but were heavily influenced by Latino music and culture. Sol Pacifica's music is a blend of pop/rock immersed in upbeat Latin Caribbean rhythms, a trademark mix of Anglo and Latino cultures that is representative not only of Sol Pacifica's members but also of their hometown of Los Angeles California.
