Bio

Someday Souvenir started with the creative vision of Christine DeRado, Stephanie Wood and Dari Mahnic – refugees from Tampa’s critically acclaimed band A Girl Named Noah.

DeRado and Wood founded the all female alternative band, A Girl Named Noah, in the Fall of 2002. The band’s lead vocalist, Dari Mahnic, immediately drew notice and attention with her remarkable voice and charismatic stage presence. In 2003, the band was voted “Best New Band”, by the readers of Tampa Bay-based news magazine The Weekly Planet appearing in their Best of the Bay issue.

The three recruited well-known drummer Riz Blanton from the ashes of the Central Florida band, As You Wish. A short time later they followed with the addition of dynamic bass player Leo Savinon, also from As You Wish, and sealed the lineup. The new band, Someday Souvenir, was born.

Lyrically, Someday Souvenir draws from personal experiences that anyone can relate to. Musically, they offer dramatic changes ranging from driving aggressive rock to the soothing calm of infectious pop hooks and everything in between. “Our biggest influences come from the people we are embraced by, our friends and family. We come from a city that makes it extremely easy to become discouraged. I think that our refusal to let ourselves become stagnant or to lose or inspiration and focus is what fuels our creativity in our music” said DeRado.

The band has released their self-titled demo EP. This release runs the gamut of emotions both musically and lyrically to display their creativity and unique genre-defying style. Technical guitar work, complex rhythm structure, and intense breakdowns permeate their music, as do incredibly polished melodies and three part harmonies. This is the first foundational step from which they will continue to build.

Current members of the band have shared the stage with bands such as Midtown, Hot Rod Circuit, Yellowcard, Recover, Rehab, The Reunion Show, Don’t Look Down, Bleach, Dynamite Boy, Copeland, and Over It while earning the respect and support of bands such as The Ataris, Finch, New Found Glory, River City High, Something Corporate, The Starting Line, and others. The collective experience gained over countless tours and live shows presents itself through the maturity of the band’s creative material and dynamic stage presence.

Someday Souvenir has the combination of talent, dedication, preservation and personality to be a driving force in modern Rock n’ Roll. Armed with an intense live show, Someday Souvenir plans on sharing their musical expression with as many people as possible.
