High-energy acoustic rock

Biography

Matt is originally from Greenville, ME and Beau is from Poughkeepsie, NY. They currently live in Newport, RI and formed Some Dude's Face in 2003. Since only cover bands get any work in Newport, they decided to do a slightly different take on the cover band scene, and arrange punk, rock, and pop songs for a two-man acoustic band. They've played such clubs as The Garden Grille, Loca, The Rhode Island Quahog Company, and The Rhino Bar and Grille, as well as hosting an Open Mic night at Loca during the summer of 2004.

Not Alone

Written By: Matt Burgess

Never will forget the way I saw her standing there,
Jealous of the fingers I saw running thru her sunny brown hair.
Tried to do what I could to keep from walkin' out that door.
A feeling like this I will never see and never seen before.

I don't need to be that free,
I don't need this hangin' over me.

Tell me why you always change your mind,
Tell me why you never take your time,
As fluid as the way she moves, she's confident and cool and
Not Alone.

Tell me not to feel this way,
She's not coming back.
Tell me how to keep away,
When those eyes have taken everything from me.

I don't need to be that free,
Is she really walking back to me?

Tell me why you always change your mind,
Tell me why you never take your time,
As fluid as the way she moves, she's confident and cool and
Not Alone.

I met a girl, and to me she means everything
She means the world, never let a moment pass me by.
I know it's something I just cannot explain,
But her laughter's like the sunshine and her tears are like the rain.

Tell me not to feel this way,
Tell me not to feel this way,
Tell me how to keep away,
When those eyes have taken everything from me.

I don't need to be that free,
I don't need this hangin' over me.

Tell me why you always change your mind,
Tell me why you never take your time,
As fluid as the way she moves, she's confident and cool and
Not Alone.

She's not alone,
She's not alone,
She's with me and not alone.

Can't Be True

Written By: Matt Burgess

When I woke up, about a quarter to ten,
My life on the floor, my head poundin again and again said,
Can't remember what the question was she asked,
But the answer was supposed to be at the bottom of that last glass

Wait a sec there, best check your tone,
Put your attitude down, hold the phone.
Last night I had everything,
But life giveth and she taketh away.
Don't bother askin for a favor,
She's got more than I ever gave her,
Now what the hell am i gonna do?
My heart knows it can't be true...

It can't be true.

Lyin in bed, stare at the ceilin'
Hands are numb, the floor is wheelin'
Gotta do somethin to make this right,
Can't do much to replace the night
Take it or leave it, so the story goes,
But (but what) we don't love these ho's.
So I left it behind, easy to forget,
Fix another drink and I'm all set say...

It can't be true

On My Way

Written By: Matt Burgess

Six years and a score before I knew what lay behind those eyes.
The pale blue light of morning shone before me, failed to recognize.
Seemingly important all the days spent under summer skies,
But they just fade away,
They just fade away.

Fingers through the sand, like gold in hand, and how I used to twirl her hair
But that is all I can remember.
But leaves will fall and carry all the memories of her splendor,
And she just fades away.
She just fades away.

Well I guess I'll be on my way again,
It's getting dark, and it is time for me to go.
Well I guess that I'll walk that road again,
Take me down, oh
Take me down, oh
Take me down, oh
Take me down.

These days of mine grow weary with the fear we'll never see that second chance,
When all it takes is some time.
But years pass by so quickly now, with miles to go but still somehow,
They just fade away,
They just fade away.

Well I guess I'll be on my way again,
It's getting dark, and it is time for me to go.
Well I guess that I'll walk that road again,
Take me down, oh
Take me down, oh
Take me down, oh
Take me down.

I'm on my way,
I'm on my way home.
I'm on my way,
I'm on my way home.

Well I guess I'll be on my way again,
It's getting dark, and it is time for me to go.
Well I guess that I'll walk that road again,
Take me down, oh
Take me down, oh

Well I guess I'll be on my way again,
It's getting dark, and it is time for me to go.
Well I guess that I'll walk that road again,
Bring me down, oh
Bring me down, oh
Bring me down,
I'm on my way.

Heaven In Her Eyes

Written By: Matt Burgess

i can see heaven in her eyes tonight,
and taste it when she kisses me,
i can see heaven in her eyes tonight,
and with just one wish i could be.

well everyone tells me that i don't know myself,
but i know this much is true:
all i ever wanted, all i ever needed
was to find a girl like you

maybe i could be her fantasy,
maybe i could be her man.
maybe i could be her destiny,
but does she understand?

i can see heaven in her eyes tonight,
and taste it when she kisses me,
i can see heaven in her eyes tonight,
and with just one wish i could be.

when i look in the mirror, trying to find myself,
and be the best man i can be.
my mind starts to wander, and i wonder,
is she thinking about me?

maybe i could be her fantasy,
maybe i could be her man.
maybe i could be her destiny,
but does she understand?

i can see heaven in her eyes tonight,
and taste it when she kisses me,
i can see heaven in her eyes tonight,
and with just one wish i could be.

hers is the only hand i'm reaching for
when i'm asking for this dance.
hers is the only heart i'm searching for
then i'm taking one last chance.

maybe i could be her fantasy,
maybe i could be her man.
maybe i could be her destiny,
but does she understand?

i can see heaven in her eyes tonight,
and taste it when she kisses me,
i can see heaven in her eyes tonight,
and with just one wish i could be.

Dare The Sun

Written By: Matt Burgess

There must be something in the air we share tonight
I feel something's wrong or maybe just not right.
No I can't breathe, no I can't sleep, when you're gone.
No I can't hide, try to rewind, then i see you follow.

I want to dare the sun to rise, without you by my side.
Can I survive another night, with this shadow in my eyes?
Would you deny the only gift I have to give?
And I say, what would be left of life to live?

With only a whisper, we are miles and miles apart,
With one last kiss, we'll return to where we start.
No I can't breathe, no I can't speak, when you're near.
No I can't hide, this feeling inside, I want you here.

I want to dare the sun to rise, without you by my side.
Can I survive another night, with this shadow in my eyes?
Would you deny the only gift I have to give?
And I say, what would be left of life to live?

I want to dare the sun to rise, without you by my side.
Can I survive another night, with this shadow in my eyes?
Would you deny the only gift I have to give?
And I say, what would be left of life to live?

I want to dare the sun to shine, without you by my side.
Can I survive another night, with this shadow in my eyes?
Would you deny the only gift I have to give?
And I say, what would be left of life to live?
